Firstly if there's an expansion draft it won't be until next year and a few of those guys contracts will have expired by then. Secondly Bonino and Beleskey would almost certainly be protected over Penner and DSP. Allen will probably be left on the unprotected list to see if Seattle or whoever wants to take on that salary. I also don't get why Vatanen needs to be protected but Etem doesn't. Etem has played almost 5 times as many games as Vatanen.

Isn't Penner an UFA too? Yeah, the Ducks are not going to protect Penner and leave Bonino and Beleskey unprotected.

I'm not sure I follow their rules. I understand why they left off Etem, because he wouldn't be eligible, but by those rules, neither would Vatanen.

Yeah, Penner, Saku, and Hiller would all be ufas not requiring protection. Etem/Vatanen situation makes no sense and DSP over Bonino or Belesky is just a no. This list has all the earmarks of being ghosted by AC.

Man golf is a dangerous game. First EJ and not Giroux. Better watch out for those tendons.

Imagine playing golf and eating pancakes at the same time. It must be like swimming with crocodiles for hockey players.

Not as dangerous as trying to use a snowblower.

It was Joe versus the Snowblower.

As long as you aren't snow-blowing pancakes and golfballs you'll be fine.

At least there's an expectation of danger with a snowblower. Those blades are nasty looking. When you hurt yourself you feel like you did something stupid, but the outcome could be anticipated. A golf cart or just swinging a club? That's like if you throw your back with Wii sports or something.

And the crackers...for the love God, not the crackers! Hockey players need to forget the five second rule when it comes to crackers.

You've got to be a special kind of stupid to hurt your hand with a snowblower. I was safely using one at the age of 11. You have to basically look for the part where it clearly says "don't put your hands here", then put your hands there.

For 3 million it seems. I dont think we offered much if anything at all. Im leaning towards the latter. 1 year 3 million is easily in our range.

I thought that was our range until I saw what the Caps got him for. Unless he wanted more to go to the West, you have to think that we have about 2 million that we're willing to spend, aside from Teemu's money.

I would have liked to sign Grabovski for 3 million. But it sounds like coach and other factors had as much to do with where he landed as anything. Other Things™

The determining factor in my mind is the number of Russian or Russian speaking people on that team.

He is also guaranteed atleast a #2 spot with Riberio gone.

Boy did anyone else see the TSN interview with Luongo? The Canucks have one unhappy camper guarding their net.

Am I way off in that I get confused when I see people rank Kopitar ahead of Getzlaf on best player lists? Or on division all star threads? Kopitar has never even reached PPG in his career. Are intangibles worth that much to people? In fact, I don't think Kopitar is that much better than Getz on the d side of things.

I guess I don't get the fascination with Kopitar. He's a good player but I would take Getzlaf over him every time.

Maybe. But even in the what have you done for me lately world of hfboards, Getz had a much better year than Kopitar last season. I guess I don't get it and shouldn't worry about it. It just chaps my hide!!!

depends whether the contract is a factor or not.

if we're including contracts then it becomes a very close comparison for me. im not sure who would edge out the other

contracts notwithstanding then definitely getz

While there's zero surprise who the teams are, it is pretty cool there will be televised preseason NHL games.
