My top 5 things I am excited for:

1. Schenn and Couturier progression
2. Not having Bryz
3. Gustafsson breakout season
4. A healthy group of defenseman
5. Maybe Scott Laughton

A healthy Meszaros, a Streit that proves me wrog about his contract, a Gustavsson that proves me right about his potential and a goalie tandem that works.

And Giroux hoisting the cup of course.
edit: in a Flyers jersey

I really hope Couturier proves the main board wrong.

I think B Schenn and Couturier will have largely similar numbers, but 'look better' doing it, and then have their breakthroughs the following year.

Gus could earn his way to 3rd most ice time if he stays consistent and gets on the top PK.

I think this is the year of the Rinaldo two-game goal streak as well, that he'll have a good few of those

Which popular claim/throw under the bus from the offseason will be this year's foot-in-mouth syndrome...

Whether it be Lavi or Streit or Holmgren or Mason or anyone. Hell, even me with Meszaros.

There's going to be some fun "I told you so"s around here.

Best would be a nice collective "I told you so" to the main boards about Couturier.

I wanna see Giroux get his mojo back - like when Jagr was his linemate.

Also wanna see Mason kick some butt

It really depends what they do with Gagne. If they don't re-sign him than McGinn's chances increase significantly to get the nod.

Basically it will come down to him, Raffl, or Akeson for the final spot IMO.

Not much focus on Giroux here; do you guys think he'll bounce back?

He had a rough season last year despite getting PPG. He seemed to be really frustrated and pressing all the time. Maybe it was just the stress of trying to captain a losing team, but I hope he bounces back strong. He was a lot more prone to defensive lapses as well.

Anyway though, my focus will be on Schenn/Couturier/Mason's development with an eye on Giroux and Voracek.

Always good to have a little extra motivation. So crazy that he was the center piece of our carter Richards trades and currently trumped by simmer and couts. If he out plays simmer we have a dynamite team.

The thought of couts playing to the player we all say he will be would be so gratifying.

I think he deserve a spot on 3 line mcginn/couturier/gagne or laughton is solid line.
How many games you think rosehill play? Last years every time rosehill fight i think the flyers won the game. The flyers play better when they have a enforcer in the line-up.

Well I don't see a spot for him if both Laughton & Gagne make the team. The lines would look something like this probably:

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Lecavalier - Simmonds
Gagne - Couturier - Read
Talbot - Laughton - Rinaldo

Rosehill will likely play when ever we play the Boston's, Toronto's, & New York's of the world. Pretty much any other big team with other enforcer's in their lineup. If another team's not dressing their enforcer than Rosehill's pretty useless in the lineup.

Flyers didn't sign Hall for no reason.

They signed him for $600K/1 year & he was waived multiple times last year. He's just another body not somebody you have to make room for. If Gagne & Laughton both make the team than Hall's on the outside looking in. He really has no effect on who does or who doesn't make the team.

I have to agree with this. He seems to serve a very specific purpose for this team. I think he will play.

He's basically guarenteed the 4th line spot. Rosehill is your extra forward. If Gagne is signed Laughton isn't on the team. If Laughton makes the team Gagne doesn't get signed at least not until injuries happen

I don't know how you come to that conclusion? Lavi didn't even use Hall in the center spot last year.

The Flyers might be more inclined to have Laughton at the 4C, so I don't see how it comes down to Laughton vs. Gagne?

Hall's cap hit can come off the books if he's sent down/waived. He's nothing more than an insurance policy. There was a reason he was waived multiple times last year & he's not better than neither of Gagne or Laughton so I don't see how he can be lock.

Hes the best faceoff man on the team something we desperately need. How you can say for certain hes not better then Laughton when we haven't even seen him play yet this year I have no idea. And Gagne is not a center he's a luxury to have at this point if we do not have someone to fill the 3rd line LW spot. You really think they signed Rosehill and Hall so they can sit on the bench and be waived up and down all year?

Lavi had Fedotenko centering the 4th line over Hall last year, that's pretty telling. If you're not letting Hall take faceoffs than he's pretty useless.

Hall is a fringe NHL player, I'll go with the unknown in Laughton.

You implied it was Laughton vs. Gagne for the last spot, I know Gagne's a winger. If Gagne's not on the team than one of Hall or Laughton is playing winger. I'm not so certain the Flyers want to start Laughton out on the wing or at the center spot, that was my point. If they want Laughton playing the 4C spot than you're going to need another bottom 6 winger, if there's a deal place with Gagne like it was rumored than there you go he slides into the 3rd line LW spot & Hall gets waived.

Well Rosehill no because he has two years on his contract compared to Hall who has one. Hall was waived twice last year it's not out of the realm possibilty that it will happen again this year.

A run to the Stanley Cup Final. It seems like the Spring of 2010 was a blur to me and I didnt really enjoy that run much as I should have. But this time I would like to win it .
