The D? The D looks quite solid so far. Another good showing last night. I'm much, much more worried about the O than I am the D.

I would absolutely bring back Phillips to see what he can do.

Giants cuts:

Quote:
In addition to Curry, the players released today were fullback Ben Guidugli; wide receivers Brandon Collins (who faces a four-game NFL suspension at the beginning of the season) and Terrence Sinkfield; tight ends Jamie Childers and Chase Clement; offensive linemen Michael Jasper and Austin Holtz; linebackers Jake Muasau and Etienne Sabino; defensive tackle Frank Okam; and defensive backs Laron Scott, Junior Mertile and Alonzo Tweedy.
Hoping they can get Sabino onto the practice squad. I assume they try and get Muasau there, too.

There's certainly a need. But he can't stay healthy. He missed the last two Eagle preseason games because he's hurt.

If he is even 80% he will be brought back, IMHO. He's a better option than Mundy.

No reason not to bring Kenny Phillips back.

No reason. I maintain he is a better natural cover safety than Stevie is. Stevie is the ball hawk, and Kenny Phillips is just solid.

I'm biased though. He was my favorite Giant for a while.

It's not a true Giants season without the backfield being riddled with injuries.

Sucks to hear about Brown. Giants secondary curse is up there.

So the Giants secondary could include Webster, Ross, Thomas, Phillips, and Rolle.

Old school, man.

There is a reason not to bring him. And it's the same reason why he wasn't resigned and its a bigger reason now: he's not healthy.

If he wasn't a former Giant nobody would give this guy a second thought.

Just watched the game.. I cringed when Brown went down, but wasn't surprised. Our D is cursed.

He's great when he does play, and he will likely be cheap. take a chance that he gets healthy

If. If. If.

Sure health is a concern, and a big one. And I don't disagree with your bolded statement, but I do disagree with the negative connotation you placed on it.

The fact that KP is a former Giant is a huge reason exactly why he should be given a second thought.

With the beginning of the season just 14 days away ( ), wouldn't it make more sense to bring in a guy who is familiar with Fewell's system? Who has chemistry with Rolle? Who is comfortable in the New York Giants, Tom Coughlin environment?

Sign him, get him healthy, and plug him in if Mundy or TT can't hack it. Seems like a no-brainer to me

Stevie Brown going down in Giants fashion. I was at the game last night and literally cringed when I saw him getting carried out of the field and eventually into the locker room.

I was a huge fan of Phillips when he was healthy. Bringing him back would be a good move, considering it is such a minimal risk.

The guy you describe sounds perfect. The actual guy you're talking about can't get on/stay on the field.

We like to talk about how Tortorella's message grew stale, at least his was a message born out of accountability.

Rex Ryan's bluster is a case study in how not to approach the longterm needs of a football team. A PR circus is only endearing when a team is winning.
