Question From A Non-Hockey Fan...

Hi Canadiens,

I wasn't sure where this was best to go looking at the forum descriptions, so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I'm looking at getting a gift for a big Montreal Canadiens fan who is going home to Canada soon, & I can't really decide which of two would be the better choice, so who better to ask than the fans themselves? Which would you rather receive as a Canadiens fan?

This...

Maybe attach a poll?

Also I don't understand what the second image is.

Do you know who is the favorite player of the fan you're talking about?

The first is a 5x15" image in a 12x22" frame of the teams jerseys through the decades. I like it because I think I'd like to be given something like this for my team in my sport.

The second is a 12x12" customised jersey print on a canvas with your choice of name & number. I like this one because it has the personalised touch which is always good for a gift.

Any feedback appreciated!

Yeah I forgot about the poll option unfortunately, so will just have to gauge responses. I have added a product description for both images in another reply.

I don't, & I don't want to let on about a gift (she's very cluey). I figured I would just put her name & number on the canvas print if I bought the second image.

I'd get the customised jersey print with Richard and number 9, every Hab fan in the world would love that.

If he/she's a hard core fan , anything not unique or personal will collect dust. The plaque is not unique, kind of cheesy. I would not put it up on my wall unless it had a certified autograph on it and could become a conversation piece. That's a yard sale item in 2 years for a $1 price tag.

I presume the second one is an NHL t-shirt or something with your friend's surname on the back and the CHC crest on the front. I have one of those, a friend gave it to me and I wear it and like it.

My friends give me gifts from 2 categories and I appreciate them. Something original, signed by the athlete (a Henri Richard signed photo for instance) . The second category are "gag" gifts, Canadiens oven mitts, or underwear, a clock, a calendar. They are funny, I like them, I use them.

If I can't wear it proudly or display it proudly it usually ends up in a drawer and dealt with harshly later.

You wouldn't consider the jersey history something to display? Okay so the canvas print with her name on it is the favourite so far, thanks guys. Keep the opinions coming!

Women in Montréal wear habs t-shirts a lot, or if you have that kind of budget you can buy her a real jersey, or a casing for her pĥone.

Thanks.

She seems like a pretty hardcore fan, so my assumption is she would already own a jersey. The phone cover idea isn't bad.

Honestly there is some really creatively intriguing gifts & collectibles looking at Hockey merchandise & paraphernalia. Wish my sport followed the lead.

You could always get Habs tickets and enjoy the game together. One small loan would be all it takes...

A Scott Gomez t-shirt is a must-have for any real fan. You should look into that.
