I bet this team would be better than the Flames this year.

Lou has said he's not adding anyone to the roster until training camp.

Even then, we don't really have any cap space to sign anyone. 1.1-1.3M in space that we'd rather keep and another 3.3M in bonus overages that we'd probably not go into either for any of these players.

Whats the deal with Guillaume Latendresse? Can Sens fans or anyone else tell me why he's not signed yet? Is he really that bad? It was only a few seasons ago that he had a big year with Minny.

The guy is 26 years old, 6'2'' and 230lbs and seems to have decent hands and willing to play physical. I dont get it

Agreed. I thought he was going to sign in Colorado right away. Seemed like the perfect fit there. Guessing the Avs are going to give Barrie his opportunity.

I know, WTH? He looked pretty good in the playoffs, I think. I'd have thought the Canucks would add some beef (with a new coach adding his opinion).

I think a lot of the lower priced guys on the list will sign somewhere before the high dollar guys. Whatever. Guys like Brunner and Raymond will always get a look. I think they'll end up back with their teams, though, for low money. Raymond for two in Vancouver, Brunner for two in Detroit.

I doubt Thomas or Hainey get an offer, at all. KHL, maybe?

The cap shrinking means there will be less salary for some guys. Once they realize it is still better money than driving a bus, they'll sign. Until then, posture away!

Cleary is a veteran two way forward who brings a much needed Stanley Cup ring to a team that honestly lacks veteran leadership more so than most teams.

If the Caps can sign MoJo cheap enough and Cleary is desperate enough to find a job, the numbers can work.
I'd rather sign Morrow. GMGM also could be trusting Latta, not Volpatti at #4LW.

I think you might be right. Unfortunately, I would rather have Latendresse at 2mil. than Raymond at 2mil. We have some other guys who can fill in anywhere in the bottom 9 with speed and a touch of scoring. We dont have very many Latendresse type players.

I still keep thinking that Lou is going to trade Volchenkov and sign Brunner.

Selanne - LAK , heard rumors he could pull an Alfie to win a cup and LA might have to dump a little salaray but maybe that is what has been taking so long.

Brunner - ANA, Ducks look to fill some of the void left by selanne

Prospal - PHX, on a tryout to compete with the young guns

Morrow - MON, a little size for a small team

Boyes - NYI, probably with a lower asking price and maybe he decides to stay where it works

Brzy and Thomas both get tryouts in Alberta

No shot Boyes goes back to isles, they have no room for him on the roster with the additions of clutterbuck, PMB and Regin, also Brock Nelson and Ryan Strome will get hard looks at camp so isles are set at forwards for this year but I do see isles inviting Hainsey and Thomas to help full some holes but that's all.

He wasn't really a fit for the Sens, and really slow.

Anyone know what's the story with Boyes? He was 35pts in 48 games on the Islanders, previous contract was 1M (so I'm assuming he's looking for a bit of a raise) - and no one's going for him?

I doubt it. Winnipeg already has 8 Dmen signed and fighting for spots on its roster...
Bogosian/Byfuglien/Clitsome/Enstrom/Pardy/Postma/Stuart/Trouba

Redmond (and possibly Melchiori) are capable callups from St Johns. Redmond might actually be competing for a Dman slot on the Jets in camp. The Jets do not need another Dman right now. In addition to a full slate of Dmen, the Jets have 23 players on their roster.

They have approx $1.1 million straight salary cap space, and another $1.225 million bonus cushion if they're willing to risk burning part of their 2014-2015 cap hit. There will be short term injuries that won't trigger the LTIR threashold. When the Jets call up a player on a 2-way contract, his cap hit jumps from the AHL level to the NHL level. Plus it would be nice to bank some cap space for waiver-wire pickups or trades later in the season.

It's a hard knock life for all the Vet UFAs...
With all the existing defenseman available, it's looking like theres no chance of the leafs moving Liles for anything. Nonis must have something else in the works...

I highly doubt that, he doesn't fit with the direction the team composition is headed - or financially. From last year's TDL, we have been moving more towards speed. We traded Clowe last year (our most Morrow-like player) and Murray, and the improvement in the team's play was remarkable.

Wow I though he was older. Feels like forever since he was with the habs.

but he doesn't play physical + injury prone. I wouldn't want him back MTL .
