2013 Lines

Two part question. What would you like to see our lines be? Then. What do you expect our lines to be.

like

Wilson-Fisher-Hornqvist
Beck-Legwand-Bourque
Forsberg-Cullen-Hendricks
Clune-Guastad-Nystrom

Weber-Josi
Klein-Ekholm
Jones-Bartley
Ellis

expect

Wilson-Fisher-Hornqvist
Smith-Legwand-Bourque
Spaling-Cullen-Hendricks
Clune-Guastad-Nystrom

Weber-Josi
Klein-Ekholm
Jones-Bartley
Ellis

I don't think we'll have a clear 1-3 lines, I think all three will role pretty even so you can rearrange them to what ever order you would like.

I think Beck starts with the Ads. I think Forsberg doesn't make the team this season.

I really would hope that Spaling and Smith are healthy scratches though and Beck and Forsberg are up, I'm just not going to bet on it.

Are we sure forsbergs situation isn't like ekholms was a couple of years ago where if he isn't on the nhl roster he can be recalled by his swedish team?

I really think FF breaks camp with the Preds.

I see Clune as the 13th forward, at least to start the season

First off, I believe FF will be on the team, because of 2 reasons. 1) Trotz likes him alot, and says he has that "IT" factor. 2) Like what was said above, if he doesn't make the team I think he goes back home.

Also, wasn't Cullen brought in to play as the #1C? I don't see him on the 3rd line. Maybe for opening night but that's it.

I hope Forsberg makes the team, but when I lay out the lines the way I think they'll go, I don't see it. Show me where you think he'll be, please.

I still think spaling is traded before camp. FF will fill the spot he vacates. Smith will have about 15 games to prove he's found his game and if he struggles Beck is called up and smith becomes a very expensive healthy scratch

I hope you're right.

With all these teams up against the cap, Spaling could be a good penalty killing 3rd line center.

This is what I'm guessing and lines 1-3 aren't 1, 2, 3, it's just our top 9 and can be played in pretty much in any situation so here we go.

Legwand-Wilson-Forsberg
Fisher-Stalberg-Hornqvist
Cullen-Smith-Bourque
Gaustad-Nystrom-Hendricks

Weber/Josi
Klein/Jones
Ellis/Bartley/Ekholm - The three headed monster. Whoever has the best camp gets the final pairing slots.

Beck starts in Milwaukee although I think he deserves to be here and maybe supplants Smith on the line with Cullen and Bourque. Clune is number 13. Spaling is given every chance to beat out Gaustad for the 4th line role. Too many forwards and not enough slots. Healthy competition and hopefully we get some value for guys who don't make the roster since we can't keep them all or send them to Milwaukee.

The only way Beck or Spaling make it is if Forsberg falls flat on his face at camp and goes overseas for a year of development but we didn't trade for him to have him go back to Sweden.

Anyone think we actually keep 23 on the roster this year? Most years we only carry one healthy scratch.

Beck/Smith-Cullen-Staalberg
Wilson-Legwand-Forsberg
Bourque-Fisher-Hornqvist
Nystrom-Gaustad-Hendricks
3 equivalent lines and a tough line.

Josi-Weber
Ekholm-Klein
Bartley-Jones

LD and RD on each pairing and a PMD on each pairing

Cullen isn't going to be our 3C. He will be our 1C. I do agree that we have a top 9 and chemistry will determine ice time.

Wilson Cullen Stalberg
Bourque Fisher Hornqvist.
Smith Legwand Forsberg
Hendricks Gaustad Nystrom
Clune, Spaling

Josi Weber
Bartley Klein
Ekholm/Jones/Ellis

There is only one spot for Beck or Forsberg. Camp will determine which one goes to Milwaukee unless they both look better then Smith or Spaling then one of them gets traded.

I think Bartley will start with Klein on the 2nd pair until Jones and Ekholm get some NHL games under their belt. One will move up to play with Klein by the end of the season.

I think we will because the money is already spent. In the past we kept 22 to save money but this year unless we send forsberg or ekholm down, we have everyone already on one way deals

So who would be the 23...

1. Weber
2. Josi
3. Klein
4. Bartley
5. Ekholm
6. Ellis
7. Jones
8. Wilson
9. Fisher
10. Hornqvist
11. Bourque
12. Legwand
13. Cullen
14. Stalberg
15. Hendricks
16. Nystrom
17. Gaustad
18. Clune
19. Smith
20. Spaling
21. Forsberg
22. Rinne
23 Hellberg

So there really is no room Beck... That really sucks, I hope 2 are traded for future considerations. I guess we'll get some room when Gaustad get hurt.

That's about it, but I do not see Hellberg playing unless Rinne or Hutton are injured. Based on what was said at signing, Hutton will be the back up instead

Not that surprising, but Trotz has Hutton as the backup.

Just to make sure, Forsberg is expected back by the first game, right?

I think I saw over the weekend that having both Forsberg and Hornqvist is questionable for the first game, but I think what I read was that at least one should be good to go. I think I saw it on Twitter somewhere.

Wow...so looking at the practice lines today, and knowing that Forsberg, Horns, and eventually Stalberg need to fit somewhere, this should get real interesting.
