no, that's the thing...the bonus can only be 10% of the salary itself - and everyone gets the same (at least the 1st round players do).

anyway, like i said it doesn't matter...it's better for us. i just thought it was odd

Good on him for helping the team win. I guess you can convince players to make sacrifices when they are joining a multiple Cup winner.

Maybe he was offered the choice between a signing bonus or performance bonuses?

Take the money now and he can spend it however he wants during his last year in Finland with family and friends. Or else wait for performance bonuses that might never come and only be able to spend that money in short bursts at home or else in the strange new world of Chicago. With only those options, I'd definitely take the former.

I'm really just spitballing. Still, no performance bonuses is nothing but good for us. Nice one, Stan.

no, that's not it...it seems all the first round players get (1) the maximum base salary; (2) the signing bonus; and (3) usually some sort of performance bonus - with the amount increasing depending on high you're drafted.

anyway, i don't want to make a big deal out of nothing or anything. i guess i'm just really anxious to see him play so am trying to convince myself this means he'll come sooner or something

they worry about him winning silverware in year 2 or 3 of the contract. Not sure what they agreed on but it will be in both sides favor

Nice. So when TT wins the Calder, Hart, and Art Ross in his first two seasons we don't have to pay him extra.

I'm a bit worried about the safety of TT. Jokerit's main rival HIFK just made a contract with Trevor Gillies, the known goon from Islanders. Last season Jokerit goon Semir Ben-Amor hit HIFK Captain Ville Peltonen (ex-Panther) from behind resulting in a concussion. It's a growing fear that Trevor Gillies has been added to HIFK lineup for retaliatory reasons. HIFK states that he has been added to "ensure safety on the ice." I really do hope that one of the brightest prospects of Finnish hockey will not be a target, voluntarily or involuntarily, of Gillies who is known for his cheap shots.

http://www.hifk.fi/uutiset/tiedote-gillies

Here's video of Semir's cheap shot.

I hope nothing like this happens to TT this season. Jokerit plays against HIFK back-to-back this Friday and Saturday.

If he can't handle couple of small FEL goons in Europe, then he certainly isn't going to become an NHL player.

I think he'll be just fine, even if they did attack him. But why would they attack Teravainen, he wasn't even on the ice when that happened?

He is a tool. I think NHL teams are for the most part trying to stay away from this type of play. One dimensional goons.

not great news but given he's going to probably be playing, as early as the season after this one, in the same conference as these guys it will be good training to keep his head up:

Honestly, I'm more worried about Cooke than Torres. Both are dirty, but I believe Torres has finally found a home and will play more disciplined hockey than that of Matt Cooke.

I don't know about reforming himself ... but he did re-form Karlsson's achilles.

Cook is way cleaner than Torres!!!!

Just look at those eyes! He's is an As***le. Torres looks like Claire Dane (from Homeland) on crack, with a touch off the PCP that AAron Hernandez was hitting.

I watched the whole game and I got to say that TT was really good today. Now he played on his level. Jokerit won HIFK 2-0 and TT scored both of Jokerit's goals as Kennel above stated. Gillies was benched the whole game, didn't play a second.

Highlights later on.
