Rocky Wirtz was quoted in June about 1 billion $ in increased NHL revenues over the next few years...so yes...

That's ridiculous. He's been good in 2 of the last 3 years. He's on par with a guy like Howard who has a similar contract.

With the upcoming raises guys like Kane, Toews, etc. will be likely looking for, I think the situation is different.

Yes it is a good problem to have, but still.

I thought it would be 25 mil / 6 years , 4,17 mil average. 6 mil is way too much.

Anything over 4.5 is an overpayment, 6 is a joke.

Meh in a buy-out world, stuff like this is fine. If all else fails, buy it out!

You can only buy out contracts signed before the last CBA. They can't try this out for a year then buy him out.

Anyway, I thought he would sign for 4-4.5 MAX. If it is 6M that is ludicrous

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - not 6yr/$6M

I hope they can extend Hjalmarsson too because the best thing about Crawford is the defense played in front of him. Not an insult on Crow because he's a decent goalie, but he won't be near as decent if the d-corps degrades.

Luongo is twice the goalie Crawford is. Idk why Luongo gets so much hate here..

And DiPi and Bryz were bought out?

The guy just won the cup where he played really good in regular season AND in all playoff games, which means he added TONS of value to himself. It might by a slight overpayment, but not by much. He's definitely entitled to at least a Jimmy Howard contract.

There are a whole bunch of goalie contracts up for renewal in the next couple years. Most of them will be in the $5+ million for starters.

This contract isn't ideal, but it isn't completely out of whack with what goaltenders are being paid.

The term is the issue. I don't think Crawford has earned that from a consistency standpoint.

This is going to look bad in a few years, when Raanta outplays him.

No kidding. Seabrook, Keith, Hammer, Oduya, Roszival, Leddy. Amazing depth.

Crawford should be sending each one a thank you note.

Correct, but it would have been irrelevant anyway. Amnesty buyouts are ONLY for contracts signed BEFORE this new CBA began.

overpaid by 1.5-2mil.

Weird contract if you ask me.

anyways, I hope he goes back to 2011-2012 crawford because the Jets and the Hawks are in the same division next season.
