One switch I would like to see be made throughout the league is to return to whites at home, darks on the road.

I don't see that happening because it seems as if most fans prefer the dark jerseys to buy.

In that case, the Kings would most certainly need to change their uniforms, as their whites are very boring with that black home plate.

But I agree, this won't happen, because of jersey sales. Most fans like to buy the dark jerseys, they usually have more character than the whites.

Ever since the unveiling of the black "home plate" logo in 2008-09 as the teams official third jersey there has been belly aching. In 2011-12 when the team changed the home and away uniforms to black and silver there was further grumbling. Then came the retirement of the crown logo and the royal purple last year. Groan groan groan. Now this...

I had to get involved.

Hmmm....tuxedos are generally black and white, are worn for important events and are generally considered to be sharp and classy.

When those of us that like the uniform make the statement that they are classy and sharp, all we get back is "boring".

Then I see that clown jersey with horrible black/gold/purple color scheme and it gets favorable reviews?

Going to have to side with Axl regarding the collective taste of those who rail against the current jersey so much. Style is an opinion, of course, but I just don't understand the hatred outside of some old man "Get off my lawn!!" type nostalgia for the original colors because you don't like change.

I have a Baumgartner yellow jersey and love it...I also love my 90s black Zmolek jersey. Both are good jerseys. The current ones are good too...not the best but certainly nowhere near the worst. The white ones are especially sleek.

Also, not liking them because of the Raiders is hilarious. I hate the Lakers but I still like the Kings purple jerseys because, you know, the color scheme of a football team in Oakland should have no bearing on the critique of the LA Kings hockey jersey.

My biggest issue with the jerseys has always been our new logo. I don't like the LA font or the home plate. I would have loved a silver crown on our current jerseys... That would just be pure class. Too bad.

I thought about this, too. But then I realize that third jerseys would be mostly worn on the road instead of at home. Third jerseys are meant to be worn at home IMO.

As for the Raiders colors, what about the Spurs? They are the biggest model franchise in the NBA right now. And speaking of the Spurs, funny how ESPN ranked them 3rd while they ranked us last when we have the same color scheme.

http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/stor...-uniforms-1-30

Teams that have had a similar color scheme through the years:

1967-1988: Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Vikings
1988-1998, 2011-present: Oakland Raiders, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago White Sox
1998-2011: Sacramento Kings, Colorado Rockies

If the players feel that the jerseys make them look tougher and it actually affects their performance, then by all means, let them wear whatever colors they want to wear. Similar to how the Raiders intimidated opponents, least in yesteryear, the Kings probably feel the same way when donning the black and silver.

Any player that feels they need to "look" tough to be tough has no business playing the sport at any level. Any player that thinks wearing an ugly uniform improves their performance needs to have their head examined. The uniform choice has little to do with the players and more to with the fans and revenue.

Raiders intimidated opponents back in the 70's when they were winning regularly, because they were cheap shot artists. Not because they wore black... they intimidated teams wearing white too and white certainly doesn't scare anyone.

The Kings uniforms are and have been abismal for a long time. Trying to piggyback of the thug life mentality of a football team from the 70's and 80's is as uncreative as the poorly designed uniforms themselves.

You don't think there is a sense of pride when a player dons a uniform with the Winged Wheel or puts on the Les Habitants colors? Maybe it isn't going to affect performance, but I would say there is a sense of pride when representing a team that has heritage or a history. The Kings never had that with any set of colors or any uniform until recently.

I'm sure every player in the NHL is proud to wear the uniform they wear. Many are just happy to be playing in the best league in the world. Does it make them play better or feel tougher? Hardly.

Pride in your team comes from the people you play for and with. It's about people...not what you wear on the ice. When a player says he's proud to pull on the sweater, what he's really saying is, I'm proud to be playing with these guys in this organization for these fans and live in this town.

He's not saying, "Gee this is the best looking uniform in the league, I love playing hockey in these clothes!" Most NHLers would be happy to play in any uniform.

I love the black and white jersey that they are currently using. One of my favorites in the NHL. I really like the colors and how they look together. Big reason I finally decided to buy a jersey. Liked it so much that I bought both home and away.

i only like the current road whites. the home black's are plain and boring. black should never be a primary jersey color, especially to the extent LA's. black should be used as an accent color to make something else 'pop', its used entirely too much. that is why i think the road whites look better, because of the 'pop' effect. it is a nice blend of color balance and traditional jersey styling.

on the other hand we could be in worse shape..... at least Miley digs the new Sabres 3rd

This is the exact reason why I love the whites the Kings currently have, and also why I've always been sort of "meh" about the blacks since they started wearing them. Trouble is I can't for the life of me come up with any sort of design using the current color scheme of black, white and silver that would qualify as a home jersey. You can't do a silver as the primary jersey color, and as soon as you add purple or gold and do that you bring up the issue of adding that color to the white... Just isn't a very solution out there I don't think.

Ya, don't think they are changing the home base logo any time soon. Sorry to disappoint.

it's the same problem they had back with the old Gretz era black and whites. by turning to a black as one of your two primary colors you completely limit yourself. hell black and white aren't even technically colors, they are shades (if my art class schooling decades ago was correct).

all you can do with black/white is what we've already seen. its the current home all black, or you do some kind of messed up concoction like the old Dallas jerseys with a white body and black shoulder/arm accents. essentially you end up with two different white jerseys that look different, in an effort to reduce the use of black. YAWN.....

black and white are simply a horrible color palette to work with. case in point.....
