Don' t think of it as the 3rd line. We know Deboer rolls all four lines at ES and Henrique will get his PK and PP time.

Not what I want, what I think we'll see.
I'm fine with this, top 6 is interchangeable with those 6 names. The 3rd line is where the controversy begins. This one is the best I can come up with.

I'm gonna go with:

Elias-Henrique-Jagr
Clowe-Zajac-Ryder
Olesz-Lokti-Zubrus
Carter-Gio-Bernier

Would rather Josefson be there over Gio or Carter be at center, but I think Peter will roll these lines.

I don't foresee any scenario in which Loktionov is playing on the first line.

Henrique and Zajac collide leaving them both with massive concussions. There's one scenario lol

Elias-Zajac-Ryder (EZ-Rider)
Tedenby-Henrique-Jagr
Clowe-Loktionov-Zubrus
Carter-Josefson-Bernier
Olesz/Barch

Larsson-Greene
Zidlicky-Salvador
Fayne-Volchenkov
Harrold

Brodeur
Schneider

Gionta is on a two-way deal, Josefson and Tedenby would be claimed on waivers, and there's still no room for a rookie on D

Clowe is too slow to combine with Jagr, plus Tedenby can learn from Jagr as his apprentice

If Tedenby struggles you still have "Goaless Olesz" to throw in there.

If Tedenby is in the top 6 we're in trouble.

I would much prefer Tedenby to be the 3rd line LW instead of a top 6 wing.

Lol at the hate of my lineup. That's arguably the strongest and most even three lines you can create with this roster and it makes sense.

First line will have two stars with Loktionov which will make it impossible for him to fail. Zajac and Clowe makes sense and Ryder can be the finisher on that line. Henrique is better suited at wing and can be the offensive threat on that third line with Josefson and Zubrus (also a great defensive line). Who cares if you put Henrique on the third line, he still has something to prove and besides the top 9 are all interchangeable. Won't be a huge difference in talent from our '1st line' to our '3rd line'. My lineup gives you three 2nd lines which will be our strength. Along with defense and better goaltending I am very optimistic for this season, should be really interesting.

I just think Josefson is the weak link on that line. I don't see much production coming out of Zubrus or Henrique there. I think Henrique having a good year offensively will be a necessity.

I would think zajac centers whichever line elias is on at least to start. the key after that might be whether or not loktionov can step up and center a line with jagr/ryder on RW which could open up the possibility for Henrique to play the middle with zubrus on the right and IF (BIG if) tedenby finally sticks he could fill in on the left. would also maybe spread things out even more. if not though, I don't think they put he and loktionov on the same line.

Lots of players have something to prove (which may be a good thing) so hopefully they had a hell of a summer workout routine and are ready to go. I am looking at you Zajac, Clowe, Henrique, Josefson, Tedenby, and Loktionov.

Don't know.

After 20 games, if Slowe has like 3 goals, I definitely will have wished that we let Matteau develop his game.

He better be on pace for 20.

You mean let Matteau develop in the NHL? I think he's better off developing in the AHL for this year.

I don't like the contract either but Clowe is PERFECT for the Devils' puck possession system so I am not sure what you're talking about.

I like this. We probably won't see Merrill in though. It will probably be the Kremlin Kone.

Not what I want, what I think we'll see.
It seems clear that Lokti will either be our #1 center, or a healthy scratch.

Nah, there's not a lot of give in our lineup.

Why do you hate Clowe so much?
I don't hate the guy - in fact I think he'll be a decent addition if everyone tempers their expectations with reality.

We are going into this year thinking he is going to replace Clarkson and outscore Clarkson and enforce like Clarkson and all of these things he simply isn't capable of. The guy has lost a step.

I'd rather dump hate on him now so people can tell me 'I told you so' than to watch as the poor guy gets slowly shredded to pieces and gets put up as someone's avatar after game 10 because he hasn't kept pace with Clarkson.

I saw alot of the guy when I lived in San Jose for a time. He's a nice player with good hands and he's a heart and soul guy.

When Chris Drury got overpaid across the river and produced right at his normal pace, he got excoriated.

Same thing is going to happen to Clowe. He's a nice THIRD liner on a good team that should have been nabbed for $3.2m and maybe he'll chip in 20 goals. That's what I'm pulling for.

Otherwise - it's going to be a bloodbath on these boards.

I think he's better than Clarkson. Clarkson only scored 15 goals last year because of his hot start where he scored 10 goals in 14 games. He scored at a 12 goal clip his last 34 games.

I don't know bleedred - I am wondering if Lou screwed the kid's head up by bringing him up right away.

He looks physically ready to make the jump to NHL part-timer. Practice with the big squad, watch the games and figure out what he needs to do from the press box, and then bring his live body and legs onto the ice every few games.

I would maybe rather see that than have him get lost in the A.

Status Quo always a good bet with this team. But I have three points in my defense of this bold statement.

1) In life, always put what you want out there or you are much less likely to get it. So the Universe needs to see this.

2) Lou made a point that he would like to see one of the young D step up in camp. I think Merrill is the guy to do that.

3) Merrill will so drastically out perform the Volchbot 3000 that amnesty buyout or Matvichuking will be the only logical choices, as he would not "give us the best chance to win", Jon Merrill will.

Wouldn't go so far as to say "book it" then waggle my junk at you folks, but it is a reality I will enjoy in the context of this thread of predictions.

Uh - Clowe scored at a 1 goal pace for his first 30 some games, no?

and then potted two more in his Rangers debut.

It's probably all about situation - but even after Clowe's big night with the Rags, their board nicknamed him Slowe. Not me.

The season will show - and I hope I'm wrong.

Edit: I'm sorry - a ZERO goal pace over his first 30. sheesh. Playing with Couture, too.

I don't like Gionta but I think he is DeBoer's plains...in TG's interview with DeBoer he essentially said what I said yesterday, Henrique, Zubrus, Elias and Gionta can all play center or wing...Loktionov is not leaving himself much room to make the team IMO.
