AHL depth in case one of the Hamilton bound defenseman stay since Parros, Emelin and maybe Gionta won't start the season.

If I remember well, in his draft year, he was seen as a potential physical offensive defenseman. No need to say nothing went as planned. I don't remember his skating, but I guess hockey sense is below average... anyway, we'll see, but damn, another D, what the hell ?

Former first rounder of the B's in the 2005 draft, never really panned out, not a bad player to experiment with.

From what I remember he's like Shawn Belle. All kinds of tools, no toolbox.

Another Shawn Belle would really help hamilton, though.

The knock on Lashoff is his poor hockey IQ / decision-making / positioning. Lots of tools, no toolbox sounds about right.. he's big and aggressive, he's got offensive skills, skates good, but he's a bad pinch waiting to happen.

He can't make the team, so I agree with those who say he's for Hamilton.

But I like the tryout. If he would magically grow good positionning, he would be in this league for sure.

The interesting part of the report is that we apparently have several UFAs coming to camp.

Yeah I don't have a problem with him in the AHL, hope we don't see him above that level though...

The Montreal Canadiens will have Matt Lashoff at Training Camp on a PTO contract.

I have no problem with him playing in Hamilton.

Hell, the Bulldogs could be shaping up to be one hell of a team.

Not in Hamilton

If Montreal keeps 8 dmen, Hamilton has :

Beaulieu-Pateryn
Nygren-Ellis
Dietz-(?)
Depth : Schiestel, Chouinard, Grassi

Even if Montreal sends one of Drewiske or Tinordi down, it would still be a good thing to have 7 dmen who can regular minutes in the AHL.

And then the NHL returned him to Philadelphia because he was past his due date? Totally.

Are the Habs playing a ton of preseason games again this year? If so, it's a pretty attractive situation for PTOs to show what they can do.

Bang on assessment; particularly the bolded parts. Has shown flashes of offense, and flashes of physicality, but never put everything together at an NHL level, really. Wouldn't be surprised to see him look pretty good down in Hamilton.

If I remember correctly( wich might not be the case) he is maybe a tinytinytiny bit better than Drewiske? or would he be below in the depth chart?
