There are fields where instructors that primarily do research with little to no experience outside of academia may not be the best choice; business and teacher education come to mind.

In those fields, carefully choosing the adjuncts may actually be worth it for the students. And I'd prefer quality over quantity as far as using real-world experience as a criterion for hiring adjuncts is concerned.

Physics MSc (U Montreal)...

Sometimes I regret not having been able to land a research internship as an undergrad, or else I might have found myself at Tufts or another school in the US instead.

Have a great frosh week everyone.

If you're going to JMSB, I might be one of your frosh leaders, so bring your A game!

Frosh leaders? Is that like a frat house president?

Anyways, I was wondering if tutorials are mandatory. I'm starting with a tutorial wednesday morning and I wanted to know if I need to wake up early or not.

Anybody ever take General Chemistry 1 at concordia (chem 205)?

I've looked up the professors on rate my prof and they seem brutal.

What level of prior Chemistry knowledge is presumed for this class? Any tips on succeeding? Also gonna have 3 hour lab sessions apparently, never been in a lab in my life...

Frosh is just freshman initiation. No frat or wtv.

No they aren't, but it is really good time to ask questions if you have problems with assignments or projects or want something clarified from the lecture.

I skipped most tutorials, but then again, I wasn't an A+ student.

I definitely feel blessed for scoring one this past summer. Should help with my grad school applications.

Thanks for the explanation. So, I guess going to Wednesday morning's tutorial would be pointless since the first lecture for that class is right after the tutorial, so there wouldn't be any questions/problems to clarify.

Yeah, usually if the first tutorial is before the first lecture, the tutorial isn't worth going to or is cancelled straight up.
The only reason for it to still happen would be if the tutor wants to give out some information to contact him or **** like that.

Please, does anyone have an URBS 240 (Concordia University) course pack to donate to me?

I did chem 208 online over the summer. Had not touched or thought of Chemistry since high school and got an A+. My bet is, if you're simply going for an easy elective, switch out of 205 and into 208. Literally a breeze, I did my readings for 1 hour each week and studied maybe 4-5 hours for the exam. Found it rather interesting too, like the bits on environmental impacts.

Was supposed to have my first class of the semester this morning. Woke up to a cancelled class notification. I feel like a young kid on a snow day (it's my only class on wednesday)!

If you want a tip, if you fear for your mark, go do it at night at dawson, get 60 and it won't count on your GPA but if it is a prereq it will be waived. That's what I did.
