Really pumped for this. I expect Klefbom to be head and shoulders above the rest and i'm really looking forward to seeing some of the forwards (Khaira, Chase, Houck, Kessy). I'm also interested to see how Monahan performs, I see a lot of Toews in him and hate that the Flames snatched him up before us. I like Nurse but i think that Monahan is going to be a great pro.

My thoughts precisely.

Winnipeg and Calgary must have the best forwards in the tournament.

Monahan IMO doesn't have the same type of skill Toews has played with.

He doesn't have the same type of individual skill either.

Oilers Rookies lines, according to Stauufer:

Roy-Miller-Kessy
Abney-Ewanyk-Houck
Baddock-Schaber-Bilckie
Khaira-Chase-Fyten

Man. That's ugly. I think I'll go look at the list of D prospects some more.

EDIT:

D pairings added:

Nurse-Klefbom
Gernat-Musil
Davidson-Leach
Marincin-Betker

Bunz starting

My sentence was awkward but this is what I meant.

The other interpretation is also correct though.

Hey, I don't see Calgary's ridiculous Junkowski pick on their roster. Busted already?

He can't play in this tourny because of NCAA rules I think.

Same with Gaudreau.

I think Monahan's skillset is really underrated. He's not as fast as Toews but he's quite a playmaker and has good goal scoring instincts mostly from in tight not too dissimilar from how Toews gets a lot of goals. I don't think he's quite as skilled as Toews overall but there are a lot of similarities in their games.

Ah, right. Forgot about that. Otherwise we'd probably be seeing Simpson and Laleggia instead of Leach and Betker.

Man, we are so stocked with good D prospects, it's ridiculous.

A highlight that comes to mind immediately for me was in Toews rookie NHL season where he undressed 3 or 4 NHLer's and then the goalie. He was a skill player in Jr and also did some pretty eye popping stuff at the WJC. Monahan, IMO, just doesn't have that. I think he'll probably be more of a Bergeron than a Toews.

And don't get me wrong, that's not a bad thing at all.

So the NFL kicks off tonight AND I get to watch hockey? Is it wrong to have a sports bonor?

If he was playing, it wouldn't be any fun for the other kids.
He is just on another level. It would be like 1984 Gretzky playing on a midget team.

Our defence is absolutely stacked, I don't see us losing a game unless our goalies completely choke. Marincin was our best defenceman in the AHL and could play in a #6/7 role in the NHL right now possibly. Klefbom is better than him already and could step in on numerous teams in the NHL. Then we have Gernat who I think is just a step below Marincin but could end up being way more of an impact guy, he has all the tools and size necessary. Nurse is raw but obviously very talented, and then we have Musil who is a few years away but pretty solid.

Abney on 2nd line and Khaira on 4th is a headscratcher.. I think this 'ugly' forward group should be able to outwork the skill of baby Flames unless 'the Sven' takes over the game.

Sweet job on the GDT OP!

I get to utilize my XBOX 360 live account for this. Should make a nice difference on my 52" flatscreen instead of watching on the computer feed!

Can't wait to see some of these guys...especially Klef and Nurse.

I'll probably end up really liking one of the guys I've never really heard of though. There's usually a couple of nice surprises.

To be honest, I'd be perfectly content to just see Klefbom get through the game without his shoulder shattering. I just want to see him healthy and ready for the main camp. The game results are secondary.
