All this love for Gernat because he looks dynamic offensively. But the guy has been walked a bunch of times with some routine moves. Going to take a fair bit of seasoning before he becomes a contender for the big club.

To me Nurse has been the worst player on ice ...well besides the Dman who just scored on himself..
Nurse cant keep the puck in on PP... got burned a couple times and has been weak with passes, discipline and coverage.

One thing I'm not hearing on here is how much better Musil's skating has gotten.

We'll have to wait and see, hard to say he can't develop.

I was thinking Marincin looks good, smooth and makes very good stick checks.

Yeah I see some great physical tools there, but the toolbox hasn't quite been assembled yet.

He's had weak passes, poor coverage, and questionable stick-checking ability.

What worries me is his actual offensive potential. No slapshot, no elite puck distribution skills, etc.

Whatever, we can re-evaluate this in 1-2 years. He's not going to be ready for a while.

I've been pondering this for awhile, but with the logjam of defensive prospects, we should consider converting him to a winger.

Fyten - Khaira - Chase has been the Oilers best line.

Chase has some pucks bobble on him, but you can see his gumption to get it back and get on it. Khaira very noticeable that period. More strength on him and he'll just bulldoze through the WHL.

Agreed. He has that "man amongst boys" vibe to his game - similar to what we saw from Petry at this tournament before his first pro season. Things are looking up for MM

I don't know how it was before - but his skating is definitely not weak. I think he looks pretty solid as a skater for his size. Smid-like in that department.

Nurse has a lot of development ahead of him, he defends like a rookie junior forward out there. He's an absolute pylon defending the rush, the reads and decision-making are extremely raw and immature.

But that's drafting defensemen, 3 - 5 years before first NHL game after being drafted, not 3 months.

Interesting you say this. I've put it out there 2-3 times on this board - it seems so logical the way he can operate in the offensive zone. But his game isn't rooted in physicality whatsoever. There's no room for soft big guys in our bottom-6. He'd have to learn to engage along the boards and protect the puck better to play that PF roll.

I'd rather give him 2-3 years to develop at that level. Playing with and learning from Marincin should be great for his development
