Some have been concerned about him not adding weight, and I think he should, but he looks strong and comfortable at the weight he is, good puck mover.

Oh please.

If the 1st period iteration of the Oilers Rookies come out for the 2nd period and the rout continues.

Credit to them, they pulled up the big boy pants and made a game of this.

I didn't really have high expectations for him at this tournament. But he looked better in the 2nd than he did in the 1st. The learning curve him is going to be steep - I think he'll be the "most improved" player by the end of the tournament. A guy with his physical skills and pedigree at the junior level is going to drink this experience all in and improve.

Marincin still impressing me in the second. Greg Chase looks good, Marco Roy has some amazing skill and great speed I know it's only a rookie game but Marincin and Roy have me exited

But they didn't. So it's a moot point.

Which points to how pointless it is to predict complete blowouts after one period.

Just me though.

I think your jumping the gun a bit after two periods. Nurce is raw, but, he will settle down. Still think he will be in the NHL next year, not 3-5.

He was 196 at the beginning of the year for OKC last year - and he definitely looks a bit thicker on the ice right now.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's playing at 205-210 right now.

I'd rather give him 2-3 years to develop at that level. Playing with and learning from Marincin should be great for his development
You're spot on that Gernat's game lacks physicality. From what I've seen, Marincin has more of a physical side to his game, irregardless of the year he has on Gernat. I'd like to think he'll grow into it as his body fills out, but as of today, it's not in his repertoire.

Look at Kale Kessy out there. That's what Musil was like in his first rookie camp. It's improved ten-fold.

I didn't know anything about Roy prior to drafting him.

After reading about him and looking at his QMJHL production, the first thing that popped into my head was Patrice Bergeron. Obviously he's a bit smaller (2 inches shorter), but the same high-IQ game is visible from watching him. He's not afraid to engage physically, he has good puck skills, and seems to ooze intelligence.

Will be very keen on following his development the next couple of years. I wonder if he gets a shot at the WJHC if he starts the year hot.

From watching him today, it's clear he's got some top-6 potential

I'd say past/recent performance is the best predictor of future performance.

But I'll concur, It's moot.

**** I can't stand Kessy. Just a nothing player. Poor puck skills, slow skating. One thing he's good for is puck protection and boards play. But that's pointless without any knowledge of what to do with the puck.

If that's how Musil looked last year then he's made unbelievable strides forward.

Why is Kerr so much louder than Principe? I'm trying to keep my volume down and ol' Rob is blowing up my speakers everytime he talks, I adjust the volume then you can't hear Gene.

Yeah, I think it's a given that the hands-down best defenseman on our YST roster is going to make camp. Wouldn't be surprised to see him out-do Larsen and Potter once there.

Will be interesting to see the Grebs vs Marincin vs Belov contest and how that goes.

I'm liking Roy a lot. Looks better than Monahan so far.

The rest of the Oiler forwards can't handle the puck.

Gene really likes it when coaches move their hands when they talk... amazing insights here.

Rob Kerr is pretty homerific. Gene is pretty toned down, but you have to think if the Oilers were winning he wouldn't be screaming in Rob's face.

**** how are Klefa and Nurse so bad. They're supposed to be our 2 feature players at this tournament, they get paired together, and they blow defensive zone coverage worse than Chorney and Bisaillon.

Done my rant.

That's Monahan for you... inexplicably in the right spot to capitalize. Dammit.

In Nurse's defense, put him on an NHL roster and the receiver would be able to handle those passes.
