What makes it all that much worse is the small Canadian flag on the sleeve. It just screams "$1.99 outlet souvenir t-shirt". At least if it were just a plain white stripe on either sleeve, then perhaps I could live with it. I'm really curious now to see the remaining 9 teams (and the white Canuck sweater). They can't all be this bad, can they?
I'm guessing most, if not all teams, will be outfitted by Nike and will have the same generic cut as the jerseys revealed, which means subliminated laces and probably much more subliminated designs on the shoulder.
At first I thought the jersey is kind of plain and souvenir sweatshirt like. But then realized that the jersey design is still missing the player numbers that will probably be on both shoulders, which will improve the look.
That said, still not a fan of the shiny shoulder bits or the stupid faux laces. Also I question having a band around only one arm and not both or neither... just seems lopsided. Also gold edging around the maple leaf? really? seems like hubris (although I guess this is similar to the US jersey having the years they won gold inside the jersey and Russia having the gold stars on their sleeves to represent the number of times they've won gold).
That seals it for me, I will not be watching the 2014 Olympics. My own personal boycott over Nike corporate idiocy and the lunatics working there who all apparently suffer from substance abuse problems.
Well, what can you say? I think it looks better, cleaner if nothing else, than the USA one but there are still many things wrong with it.
