He'll likely play tougher forwards at home, and the usual on the road, but the defensive pairings are likely to be worse than he's ever faced.

Good for Vandy finding a gig. Interesting all these guys with "out clauses" I wonder if this might become sort of the norms for vets who don't have contracts at this point in the offseason?

This is either angry sarcasm (here's hoping) or one of the worst posts this board has seen in a long time.

I'm always amazed how ready to eat these player alive people here are for insignificant things SO early on.

I think many don't like the team as much as they think they like the team.

It sure is but really, it's only a few select posters who throw out asinine statements like Theo Nurse. The funny thing is that he thought that the Oilers passed up on Monahan to select Nurse.

He's comparing Nurse to Peckham because of "bust", doubt he was racially profiling.

Lol, ok then. Nurse is a recent top-10 with Pedigree, Peckham is a former late round pick who frankly turned out, if you consider how few of players ever even play in the NHL, and was signed by the Stanley Cup champs.

You can hope it's what you think, but it's not.

Personally I think Nurse could be our PK Subban or Dustin Byfuglien.

Alright... let me explain..

That post was made after Monahan scored the goal last evening while Nurse was standing by him like a pylon..

Nothing to do with the race or potential of the kid... Nurse was just Peckham bad last night on his skates and in his head.

The post was intended to go in the GDT thread

I'm not here to imply that you're racist or anything, but why Peckham? We've had a ton of crappy d-men in the last 3-4 years, why not Plante or Teubert who were both worse than Peckham? The fact that they are both of African descent on a team with few players of African descent in the last 2-5 years makes it look like you are comparing them due to other factors other than on ice play. That is all that others are trying to get at here.

Quick! Someone tell Nurse that's NOT how to "bulk up"

It's a comparison that gets talked about as if it's a racial one, but the thing is they do have similarities. Both play a physical game and Peckham did get caught a lot.

Why not plante or teubert? Maybe because they never were really Oilers? Peckham played 160 games as an Oiler.

The only issue I have is Peckham was a 75th overall pick and Nurse 7th. To start comparing Nurse to Peckham this early just doesn't seem fair to Nurse. He is expected to get lit up from time to time still. He's very raw and has some years to go.

Doesn't change the fact that Monahan was drafted ahead of Nurse...

I'm surprised that any of you seemed to have high expectations for Peckham. I don't think he was a bust, I think he turned out to be the type of NHLer his ceiling indicated.

Nurse doesn't equal Peckham strictly because of his potential... Nurse has some, Peckham never really did.

Plante and Teubert never were NHLers and I have not seen them play much.. Peckham tries to be physical but is often out of position and more than often makes unforced errors.. I chose Peckham over MAB due to the style of game they play... maybe the race factored in there too but I dont like to think so.

@Arpeggio .. I never said Monahan was drafted after Nurse ..

Peckham was supposed to be an upgraded version of Matt Greene... Never got close to it.
