I see a good number of people at games with the horrible fakes where the blue is like...royal blue or periwinkle, rather than navy. Like...is thrift that far ahead of dignity for you?

At least the wrinkles are authentic.

Yeah, the royal blue lettered jersey's look terrible and are very obvious.

I talk trash to people wearing counterfeits. The horrible purple numbered Preds fakes .... the Hawks fakes that get the Indian wrong ... people need to be told when they are sporting the jersey equivalent of a Folex watch.

Sad thing is that the "jersey" in the OP might be an actual, licensed product. There is a huge difference in a faked, i.e. counterfeit, jersey and some of the ridiculous things the NHL licensed over the years. There are sleeveless jerseys that are licensed. Wrong colors like Blackhawks jerseys done in colors like blue or yellow, but licensed.

Nothing hockey-related pisses me off faster than the fake jerseys.

And what's worse is people justifying them..

I'll admit to buying one a couple years back thinking it was a steal. It was a black and blue Sully jersey for $75 right after the gold jerseys came out thus the cheap cost I thought. It wasn't until it came in with China on the shipping label and seeing how bad it was that I knew I pretty much knew I had been scammed. I turned to the boards to find out for sure when I found out about the counterfeits and how bad they were. Thankfully my usual source for jerseys, a reputable site, had some black and blues left and were on sale and I think with the Sully customization I still came out pretty good. The Chinese one went to the thrift store and hopefully helped someone stay warm during the winter. So as has been said before on here probably, buyer beware!

Counterfeit "authentics" usually have a few common telltale signs besides the too good to be true pricing. The fight strap is all wrong from its length and width to how it is sewn to the jersey. The crests are usually bubbly looking. Colors aren't right. The NHL shield at the collar is usually horrendously embroidered on fakes (they are improving of late). Reebok does not make a size 48 authentic jersey in an Edge cut so any jersey that looks like a 2007 or newer version in 48 is fake.

There are a ton of counterfeit Penguins Winter Classic jerseys on ebay that were copied down to the MeiGray tag on the inside. They all use the same registration number and most of them misspell "group" as "groop".

Kev: I bought a Pens sweater cheap on Ebay once that had a very questionable stain on it. Never again.

Are the royal blue gold jerseys knock offs? Someone told me (and correct me if I am wrong) that some of the royal blue jerseys are actual legit Reebok jerseys. There was a goof in the initial manufacturing run and it was never corrected.

I've never seen anything about a bad production run getting out on legit Reebok shirts. The Premiere level jerseys are a different material which makes the shading look a bit different than the authentics, Indo-Edges, and gamers ... but it's easy to tell the difference between the real premieres and faked shirts.

This listing shows many of the things to look for in a faked Predators jersey. The shape of the crest is wrong and it has a bubbly appearance. The colors and fonts are off. The "guitar string" lines on the numbers are sewn in ... they should be sublimated. Look at the area where the fight strap attaches on the back. It is only about 1" wide, it should be much larger. The NHL shield on the collar and Reebok wordmark on the back are embroidered into the jersey, they should be sewn on patches. -- The 30 second glance over catches those glaring issues.

Below are a couple of links that discuss the differences between legit jerseys and the counterfeits.

Given the option of fake jersey + go to live games
or
No jersey + no live games.

I'd rather take the live games and fake jersey. Some people just have different priorities in money. To each his own. I understand the NHL caring, but there is too much to worry about to get mad at someone over how they spend their money. Blegh

Lol, I think they took that design from one of our old "design your own" threads here on HF.

Buy a fake jersey, pair it with a Folex watch that turns a wrist green, put a Cadillac emblem on a Yugo and head out on the town.

How about no jersey + go to live games. It's the one very logical pairing you left out. If money is so tight that it is a choice between one or the other, buy a t-shirt. It's a better choice than the horrendous fakes people wear that look nothing like the real thing and highlight their willingness to buy a counterfeit.

A blank, team overstock jersey goes for under $100 blank. Legit replicas are available for around $75 and up if you're patient and know what to look for. I've bought a game worn Predators jersey for under $165 including shipping during a sale. There are plenty of preseason jerseys, legit team issued and player worn, for around $200 ..... or $100 less than a blank "authentic" at the team store. I'm sorry, but defending counterfeits just doesn't fly.

lol. I could care less what people wear to the game, just don't toss your beer at me or get drunk and start a fight in front of me.
