Forsberg to Nashville Rumors of Spector's

Did anybody see the blurb in his trade rumors for today yet? I'm not in the Nashville area anymore (but I listen to 104.5 on my computer), but is there any local validity to this or is it just rampant speculation?

Pure speculation. I'd be VERY surprised (and pissed off) if we picked up Forsberg.

I'll bet it went like this:

Somewhere here, there's a thread on Forsberg and a comment was made about how a team like Nashville could have cap space and want Forsberg, but PF would have to waive his no-trade clause and he might not want to do it even if Nashville might be a great fit. Someone saw that, read it as "Nashville wants Forsberg and has the cap space, but will Forsberg waive the NTC" and a few translations later it's "Nashville wants Forsberg and he's willing to waive his NTC to go there."

I seriously doubt Forsberg will be traded anywhere.
In fact, I bet he returns to Sweden (to play for MoDo) in the next year or two...

Sure, he's a game-breaker, but he's also Uber Injury Prone!

I like Peter, but no thank you. We're all full on centers, let alone take on one with health issues and some percieved leadership issues.

It just doesn't make sense for Nashville.

Besides, have teams not learned from last seasons Penguins and this years St.Louis, Phoenix, Boston? Lot's of high priced big named stars don't equal wins.

We're winning right now, why mess with it!

People need to look at more than just cap space available when making up crap.

First of all I don't really believe the rumors. I doubt Forsberg would be traded until around the deadline.

However, I'd love to get Forsberg, if his foot injury if cleared up and the deal is right. When healthy, he's one of the top players in the world. If David Poile has a chance to deal which doesn't break us too hard, he'd be stupid not to do it assuming Forsberg is not damaged goods at that point.

As for the team winning, well yes, we have been, but it seems as if lately we are just barely getting them. Yes the result is what matters, but if this team plays like this around playoff time, I doubt we'll make it very far.

We're having problems playing bad periods, now showing up for some, having trouble leaving our zone, keeping the puck in the offensive zone, etc. Don't get me wrong, we're winning, but this team really needs to improve in alot of areas. Would adding Forsberg instantly fix all of those? No. But he would certainly help out imo.

Forsberg IS damaged goods and all these foot and ankle problems are chronic issues that keep resurfacing and will continue to resurface.
I don't want Forsberg here for the price it would take to obtain him.

I think if Poile were moving towards acquiring him, the price wouldn't be as steep as one might think. We are one of the few teams in a position, cap-wise, to make this move and not think twice about it (budget-wise is a different story, though).

Forsberg has two key, interrelated issues that drive his price down considerably. He's making a nice chunk of change (in other words, there shouldn't be a bunch of teams bidding for his service), AND he's injury prone. He won't be fetching what he once could have.

If Poile is going to pull the trigger, it's going to be a for a package that isn't overly impressive. Now, we aren't talking Fiddler and a 4th rounder, but I don't think it'll be for package that we all dread such as a Hammer/Radulov/+.

All this being said, I'll believe that we are interested in acquiring Forsberg when the trade actually gets reported by np.com.
