Maybe its just me but having the goto guys getting a two week rest in the middle of February is far more appealing than having them play bit parts on the Olympic team.

Well it all depends whether or not Edmonton is fighting for a playoff spot. If so, I would have to agree with you.

If the Oil aren't well within the playoff mix by February, Dubnyk won't be in the mix for the Oly team either.

That'd be helpful... but the experience of playing with and against some of the top guys in the world would be beneficial as well.

Imagine the positive it could do someone like Hall being around guys like Toews and Crosby for a few weeks.

Or back to Dubnyk... if he makes it, good chance he won't play a ton... but the experience of just being there could help him a ton as well. Practicing with those guys, seeing how some other goalies approach the game (whoever actually makes the team) could be huge for him.

And if Dubnyk does enough to make the team and be their #1 goalie (highly unlikely)... can you think of a more pressure filled situation for a goalie? If he can handle the pressure there (and likely the most hostile crowd he'd ever play against), he'd be handle anything the playoffs throw at him. That experience could do wonders for his career... I'd let him play in net there even if it meant having to rest him for 5-6 games post-Olympics

Yep, still on pace to be the sledge hockey goalie. I'll give him a week or two till nashville throws him on the scrap heap.
