I think the guy who wrote this article was one of the people Campbell turned down.

Fan: "I have a picture of one of the most painful experiences in your life. Can you sign it for me?"
Campbell: "No, I want to move on from that."
Fan: "YOU'RE AN ***HOLE!" *blogblogblogblogblog*

Campbell did the right thing. It's his right to sign what we he feels like signing I don't get how people could begrudge him for refusing to sign of the most hurtful experience as sports player . Campbell showed guts playing with a broken leg, but its time to move on . His attention and the team should be on this upcoming season and not him refusing to sign an autograph of him breaking a legs. Smh.

Gracias. That year blends together because it was so magical.

But a fan asking you to sign a photograph of the injury isn’t doing anything but acknowledging how you inspired them.
Great line.

I'm sure that a few years down the road he'll gladly sign all the " injury " photos that people want. Right now he's probably thinking along the lines of " that play happened last year and right now I'm trying to get ready for this upcoming season " which is why he's probably refusing to sign that particular type of photo. Once his playing days are over he'll come to embrace just how much his on-ice actions affected all Bruin fans when he's constantly being asked to sign those photos. For Pete's sakes - Bill Buckner now has no problems signing photos of that infamous 1986 WS error but I bet if you asked him during Spring Training in 1987 he probably would have reacted a bit differently.

Hey Greg, could you sign your rookie card for me.

No, that's in the past. I'm trying to focus on this season.

What's the most serious injury you've ever sustained?

I want you to sign a picture of the moment it happened, and if you don't, I will publicly humiliate you on the internet because you didn't want to glorify a moment where you suffered extreme pain.

Fair is fair, right?

What a ludicrous opinion, pretty sure Soupy is more than gracious about signing any other pictures/cards or whatever, and this guy feels he needs to "get over himself"????

Speechless

I'd rather this autograph over anyone showing him breaking a bone 8 days a week and twice on Sunday's. Seriously

Me too, I`m just not an autograph guy yet I can`t wrap my head around why anyone wants a picture of a player writhing in pain to be signed

Just don`t get it

Not a big fan of the tone of the article but I do agree it. At the same time Soupy can do whatever he wants. I love the story of the Yankees putting the picture up in their draft room. Love it.

I'm rather indifferent to it too. The article has a good point, and I see Greg's side to it as well.

I'm sure he'll lighten up about it as time passes. If he's still denying to sign the pic when he's 60, then maybe I'll give him some flack for it.

I suppose, if I was an autograph guy, I just wouldn`t be interested in having a pic of him during that shift to be autographed

I've always felt that the autograph itself is overrated, but I'm not a collector. I've met a few athletes and I usually just ask to get a picture with them... it's quicker, more personal, and the athlete doesn't give the "hmm are you a greasy memorabilia dealer" look.

I prefer a photo with a player vs an autograph. You look at it and remember the moment.

I think it was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who said he preferred to shake hands, "because then I get something out of it too."

I can tell that the writer is somebody from this forum because of the use of the supposed word "do'in." I have noticed in my life a fairly strong correlation between general intelligence and the ability to use apostrophes. "Im' do'in apostrophe's!"

Bonehead move on Campbell's part. If indeed you want to "move on from that moment", then why attract more attention to yourself by refusing to sign? It's a friggin photo, lighten up dude. It was a very cool moment for us Bruins fans, and as the teams 4th line center, you should embrace the love the fans are showing you. Most of us view you as the gritty blue collar guy, you work hard, you fight guys tougher than you, you stand up for teammates, you're great at killing penalties. All things unglorified, you excel at. And what better a way to show some appreciation for you than to have an autographed photo of your "The Shift", hanging on our walls?

Wake up Campbell. Sign away with a smile.

If you put yourself in his shoes, it's easy to understand why. But people won't do that, they'll just get angry and call him an egomaniac or something just because he's a professional athlete.

If you really have the attitude that Gregory Campbell owes you something, I don't know what to tell you. If he doesn't want to sign he doesn't want to sign.
