NHL 14 is coming out next week.

Who all plays and what are your thoughts on improvements in the game?

What systems do you guys have sucess with when using with the Predators against online opponents?

Anyone have any tips or strategy that you have success with when playing online opponents?

I'm not into gaming, but there was some discussion here a few weeks ago...

I will be picking it up on Tuesday for sure. I play club games with some guys I know and I joined a GM connected league like I did last season.

love the changes so far. The new puck chop is a great step to making a true sim game and the hitting while over the top at times is a big improvement. The new fighting engine is a lot more fun as well. They also improved back-hand shots which should add to the realism.

As for the Predators I always use them but the past few years the game has been so heavily based on speed that it can be hard at times. For some reason many of our players are underrated in that stat imo. this year I think speed will be less of a factor at least if the game is close to how the demo played. The mack truck turning for D-men seems to be gone and the strafing is really improved.

They are going to need to work on goalies some with a patch I think but aside from that the game looks amazing. Can't wait!

I agree persona with the things you liked. The game seems to have a better feel to it as well.

The only complaint i have is the top right corner snipe is still to effective. Especially when the goalie is in position to make that save but you cannot get anything to fall when they are out of position to stop a high corner shot to the left.

Yeah it is frustrating seeing how the preds are rated in the game. This year was awful and i eventually stopped using them with no Erat or Forsberg and horrible ratings for Josi. I wish they would do a better job of updating rosters and even tweaking player ratings throughout the season.

Here are the player ratings for the Predators that came out today so far.

Weber 92
Fisher 84
Legwand 84
Wilson 84 (4 GREEN stars)
Hornqvist 83 (4 YELLOW stars)
Stalberg 83
Cullen 82
Klein 82
Josi 82 (3.5 GREEN stars) (Underrated imo)
Kostitsyn 81 (4 YELLOW stars) (Nice updated rosters)
C. Smith 81 (4 YELLOW stars)
Gaustad 80
Spaling 79 (3.5 YELLOW stars)
Bourque 79 (3.5 GREEN stars)
Nystrom 78
Hendricks 78
Ellis 77 (4 GREEN stars)
Bartley 75 (2.5 YELLOW stars)
Rodney 73
Forsberg 73 (4 YELLOW stars)
Clune 72 (3 RED stars)
Rask 60 (3 YELLOW stars)

SK still being on the roster is silly and I think they still have Josi underated but it is better than last year at least. Hope to find out what Jones is rated today at some point. How they have Smith higher than Bourque is another interesting one. I love that Klein finally got some love as well.

That's awful if they still have SK on the roster. Hopefully with the first patch they will fix that.
