There's plenty of serviceable backup goaltenders currently looking for an NHL job.

I'm sure they could find one.

Giguere for Kulikov?

Honestly, sign one of the UFAs out there.

Hedberg is a free agent now. I imagine there are better options than Hedberg, unless your main goal was to have a veteran mentor in the locker room.

Plus it seems like Clemmensen should be ready to go again around Opening Night.

Quote:
Clemmensen underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee, Panthers GM Dale Tallon said on Sunday. While the surgery will only keep him out for three weeks, that cuts into training camp time and pushes his timeframe for a return right around opening night. That's not ideal to say the least, no matter how comfortable they might be with Markstrom.
They might just want somebody on a PTO to play some of the preseason games.

It's almost like age and contract status are things.

He won't because we will pay our backup the minimum or close to the minimum. Highly doubt Bryzgalov will settle for something like that.

Bryzgalov would be a great reclammation project, assuming he's willing to sign in the NHL at a cheap caphit. He'd be insurance in case Markstrom isnt ready for a big load. .

They're looking for a Clemmensen replacement, not a 9-year commitment to a $5+ million cap hit. Jacob Markstrom exists.

I'm really impartial to the Panthers, people can't seem to post about that team without going full derp.

No. The Panthers would have had the same problem with Markstrom and Lu that the Canucks had with Lu and Schneider. And, the thing I hate the most, they would have had to give up one or two top prospects and a top draft pick to get Luongo. Screw that.

Give DiPi some time on the ice in camp. No further obligations.

With Mrazek ready to play in the NHL and Coreau/Patterson/Paterson panning out, the Red Wings could swing Gustavsson for a 3rd or a B prospect. He's not bad, he's just not as good as Mrazek!

Yup. Not to mention the panthers are in cheap, cheap mode.

Luo would of only made sense if we didn't have Marky.

I want Timmy
