Apparently Couturier has bulked up a bit. I'm curious to see how his game changes

Last Word on Sports takes a look at what to look forward to this season in terms of storylines and which players are worth keying in on. The goaltending situation, from a Flyers outsider, is the main thing I think everyone will be looking forward to.

The battle in net, Vinny and the bust out years for Couts and Brayden. Really hope Couts gets real chances to show his offence and put Brayden with G and V all year. Vinny Harts Simmer can be the we will score and kick the **** out of you 2 nd line.

I look forward to watching Emery extrapolate his 17-1 record last year to a full year of 77-5. I'd settle for just 60 wins though.

Goalie Fight

I predict a Flyers goalie fight [& not round 2 of Emery vs Biron]. I think the 'Broad Street Bully' in Mason will come out this season. [Did you guys see him throw that glove shot on Alfie at the end of the season? He was getting little feisty between whistles in that last game. He's got Sugar-Ray Emery to give him boxing lessons. And he'll want to show off for new assistant GM Hexie. And he's big [not just tall big, big frame too]. And a South-Paw [I don't know if that helps or not though]

The only question is WHO will he throw down his right-handed glove to throw down with? My friends and I analyzed the possibility of him going at it with each of the NHL goalies and decided the mostly likely candidates are Mike Smith or Jonathan Quick.

I steve mason

Does anyone know what this was about anyway? Of all the people to take a shot at, why Alfie? It was between whistles so it wasn't like he was screening him. If he was upset & just wanted to hit someone, it just seems weird he picked Alfie.

Alfie is a little weasel out on the ice despite popular belief. I can't remember exactly what he did but I do remember Mason taking a swipe at him during the last game of the year.

I watched both the home & visiting feed and could never figure it out. There was some pushing / shoving going on right between the whistle, but it wasn't really Alfie involved. & I thought if ur gonna take a swipe at some, Chris Neil makes a good target. Maybe he thought Alfie wouldn't hit him back. Or maybe he thought he would.

Phoenix Coyotes Visit Philadelphia

I'm excited about the Phoenix Coyotes visiting this season. Do you think the Flyers will get Mike Smith to do this in Philly?

Giroux, Hartnell expect Flyers to bounce back

Good article...

Quote:
Giroux and Hartnell each said they're looking forward to getting back on the ice and putting what happened last season behind them.

"When you're working out or watching the playoffs ... you're sitting at home in your chair and thinking about your season and what went wrong," Hartnell said. "This summer there was a lot of 'What could have been,' or 'If I could have done that.' It definitely gets the fire going to make the playoffs, get going again. I've never been this excited since I got to Philly six years ago. Excited about [training] camp, excited about our team. I'm just really looking forward to it."

Hartnell having a bounce back season would be really welcomed next year.

Yeah no doubt... he needs to be on top of his game and in good shape. Sounds like he is motivated. That lockout killed him and Kimmo's shot didn't help him either....
