Not sure of what's on Twitter, or not, on Tim Thomas but FLA is one team that has made UFA G offer of PTO. Waiting to hear today/tomorrow.

I'm up for anything that translates to Clemmer playing less.

Anyways, Thomas is a hundred times the mentor Clemmer is. Just look at Rask.

We offered one to Theo too, but he rejected

Renaud Lavoie @LavoieRenaud
With Clemmensen out for 3 weeks, Panthers offered a PTO to Jose Théodore today. Théodore rejected the offer. He's waiting for a contract.

If Thomas accepts and we end up signing him to a $2 million/year contract, this could be a huge steal.

I know he's not exactly a team guy but if he still has it our goaltending situation would be massively improved over last season.

He's not my favorite player in the league, but like Soupy said he's still an improvement over Clemmer. I'm in favor.

I hate to agree with this... I really dislike this guy. But If Michael Hauser just became our #2 on the depth chart, then it would be stupid not to grab Thomas for a year, if we can get him for anything approaching $2M per.

Just got breaking news from my SCORE app: Theodore rejects Panthers tryout offer.

EDIT: See beat to the punch above, sorry. This makes things a bit more interesting on the Thomas front. I think Tallon is going hard here now for a vet goalie/bounce Clemm out of town or down to the AHL.

I don't buy that too much, and if he does not want to be a team guy... more time for Markstrom. We are not signing Thomas to a 5 year deal here.

I always got that impression from Clemm. I really cannot stand his body language, how he treats interviews and also his play does not help me shape my mind differently. Never could buy into him being a Panthers goalie when we had guys like Beezer, Luongo, Vokoun, Anderson, Burke , Vernon etc... in past years.

Would love Timmy to back up Jacob this season.. 56-26 in terms of games.. Markström plays 2/3s.

It seems as if FLA has only offered a pto to Thomas, so we'll see if he actually accepts it. I hope he does, I like Tim Thomas.

Love it! Thomas is a top level goalie, and I'm convinced all the arrows aimed his way are ludicrous. Don't think most are really clued in anyway, they just follow the flow.

I'm not a fan of Thomas at all due to him being a headcase, but I would rather him here than DiPietro whom can be injured for the season by picking up a piece of paper. Theodore would have been the best choice IMO, but he wants a contract offer. Still though, I'd rather see Thomas play in a tandem with Markstrom than Clemmensen if he's not going to be healthy.

I understand Theo wants a contract, but even when he was healthy last year, he was not very good. Yes granted better than Clem but that's not saying much. The reality is that while Thomas may have rubbed people the wrong way with his off-ice actions, what he brings in net could be a valuable commodity. As long as he isn't a distraction, I see no problem with this, especially if he's willing to come in on a PTO.

Don't go anywhere near Dipietro. It doesn't matter how good he is, he's made of glass.

At least the Panthers are trying to make something happen here and I get the feeling they want to push Clem out one way or the other...fine by me.

As long as anyone else is in net than Clemmensen I'm happy.

Tim Thomas won't be a number 2 keeper tho according to TSN. Nice to see someone give him a shot (politics aside).

He could do good for Markstom.

All this BS about his beliefs and such hurting a team. He really was a bad mentor for Rask wasn't he? He didn't lead his team to a cup did he?

Holy hell ~ NFS!!!!!

I'll take the guy who's recently won the Vezina, Smythe, and Cup. I'll still take Tim Thomas EASILY over 90% of any goalie in any league after how long he's been out. After consideration there might be 5 goalies I'd rather have.

Any updates???? I'm checking every 10 minutes since 4pm...

I can't believe my eyes when people say he's gonna come back any different or worse than he left.

Does he seem like the type of guy that would come back knowing he lost his juice to old age in anyway?

Do people really think he hasn't put on skates in 2 years??
