I think they would mostly want the cap savings that would come with trading Kulimen, so that would probably mean mostly picks and we have already traded our 2nd.

Acton could be an option but it seems like he has basically zero offensive upside and would purely be a faceoff/defensive player (which is what MacTavish criticized our bottom six for last season).
Agree, I don't know why Smithson was let go in the first place. The guy was pretty decent. Threw the body, was decent defensively, the only thing you can harp on him for is not contributing much offensively. I suppose that was why.

Remember when he was a "big deal" with the Flames way back?

Pick up Kulemin for a pick and a prospect.

Get someone like Moss from PHO or Goc/Bergenheim for FLA and the lineup looks sooo much better.

Hall - Gagner - Yak
Perron - RNH - Ebs
Kulemin - Gordon - Jones/Bergenheim
Jones/Jonesuu - Goc/Lander - Brown/Smyth
All he said is he is off the block right now, things change.

Panthers await word from Thomas and Bryzgalov. Can't have both, but intrigued to see if either can earn a spot thru a camp invite.

Smart move by FLA.

Or play Kulemin with Gordon and Hemsky as a legit two-way third line. Cripes Kulemin hit 30 goals and 57 points a couple of years ago (albeit with a sky high SH%).

Expect EDM to be on lookout for a heavyweight fighter. Currently without that element but GM MacTavish and HC Eakins believe it's required.

I hope if we get someone like this he can take a regular shift and not another useless Smac type of player.

If I were to guess, I'd probably say this is the exact player they're looking at.

Konopka would fit the bill, yes? He can play a bit.

Zeno can take faceoffs and fight. That's all.

With Minny signing Steckel to a PTO I wonder if they waive Konopka with Dowell and Steckel possibly in the fold? He would help Gordon with faceoffs thats for sure.

Depth and toughness, I say it's a nice fit.

Konopka is the same as Barker to me.
Fans of teams he is leaving say good riddance, he's useless. Fans of teams he is coming into hope for the best.

Sure, but like I said, heavys are a waste of roster spots, especially in this day and age.

It also makes sure Acton and Lander aren't gifted a spot on the 4th line which is great! Guess we will see when the teams start cutting players I just hope MacT doesn't give away a pick for him like Tambo did for Brown if theres a chance Konopka gets waived.

I still think it's going to be Mac. Konopka while bringing more than just fighting is already kinda what we have in Brown and Eager.

When they say we are looking for a heavy, I think the Mac's or Goodard's of the world to keep up with McGratton.

Waste or not, if Eakins wants one he'll get one.

Ben Eager looks significantly thinner this year

Not the first time I heard this. The guy can make things interesting if he really has his head back.

I agree. The Oilers are also very familiar with Big Mac. They won't play him in every game but it would be nice to "plug and play" his against teams like Calgary. This will help keep McGratton in check when the game gets out of hand because of the score board

In totally forgot that the Flames got McGrattan. Mac is a waste of a roster spot unless we play Calgary. It can't be helped I guess if they do bring him back.
