Heavyweight enforcers are pretty much useless unless they can actually play. The Oilers could use a 4th line enforcer type but really need someone in their top 6 or top 9 who can protect the young guys. I'm surprised that Hemsky hasn't been moved or bought out and such a player acquired.

Nothing is wrong with him. He is an ok 13th forward who is always willingly to fight and can play some hockey without letting in outrageous goals against. Weird theyd want another

I think I saw him make 1 or 2 plays with the puck once. So ill give him that

A more recent quote gives hope:

"#Oilers Dallas Eakins wants toughness but not convinced his team needs a "gunslinger." He'd also want enforcer who can play, not just fight."

You can turn Desharnais into an enforcer.

GSP is Canadian, surely he must be able to skate. But then again, he'd probably just pin his opponents to the boards or ice.

John Scott and Cam Barker are close though. Honorable mentions to Kurtis Foster too.

just speculation, imo

I think if Eager has a great camp, this conversation ends.

I've seen him say in an interview that he played hockey into his teens and was good at it but gave it up to focus on MMA.

Keep in mind that player has to be cheep as the team is short on cap space and shouldn't be a prospect because sitting in the press box wont be good for their development.

If you were going to go that route you would probably be bettet served with a boxer who can skate rather than an mma fighter who can skate.

I kinda agree, originally it was made to sound like the guys wanted a Macintyre but then Tencer describes guys that really aren't any better than Eager. Eager finished strong and has lost weight, might be a good surprise in camp.

One poster earlier said it best. The PP is the best way to deter guys from taking runs at our players. With another year of growth guys like Hall get bigger stronger faster and harder to hit/knock off the puck.

That being said I really miss the days of guys like Semenko and Dave Brown. I wouldn't mind a big guy who is an absolute terror, someone who's only purpose and pleasure in life is leaving guys disfigured and laying on the ice. I'm talking about a real psychopath, a guy that makes the big guys and enforcers on the other teams say please don't make me go fight that guy. I'm not saying this guy has to play every game but you put him in a line up when you play a team that likes to take runs at the young guys.

The Pacific isn't loaded with heavyweights by any means but look at the teams. The Kings are a pretty rowdy bunch. The Ducks have Beleskey, Souray, Allen, and Fistric who will throw (not to mention Getzlaf and Perry who throw their weight around), the Stars got a few guys. Not too concerned about the Canucks and Flames but still there is a decent amount of toughness in the Pacific.
