ESPN top 100 prospects (paywall)

I can't post the whole list but some of the rankings caught my eye, Kuznetsov over Nichushkin, Grigorenko top 10 and Trouba over Rielly.

Nice to see some good Flames representation, but it seems a bit tilted towards this year's draftees.

i can't believe espn still tries to charge for some content...it's laughable. espn is a flat out joke.

I love how ESPN spends 12 months of the year pretending that hockey doesn't exist, then expects to be taken seriously when they come out with garbage lists like this

They have Drouin #1. That's all that needs to be said.:

Pronman is a very insightful source. Bash Espn if you like but that guy knows hockey.

Had no idea of the author. Didnt click due to paywall. Pronman and LeBrun are solid.

Why? Im assuming this is Pronman. Who does some good work himself. Why not pay him for what he does. He provides a service we all enjoy. $3 a month is not that much if your dedicated to following prospects.

I dont pay for it because I can get free content elsewhere, but its also lower quality.

Pronman made the switch to Espn from HP. For evaluting prospects from a nuetral standpoint I rate him as the #1 guy to follow. He watches alot (like a large amount) of prospect games. Alot of those games are on crappy feeds, and can be alot. He also follows the prospects post draft and talks to a ton of scouts. He does his homework and evulates on a basis that is neutral for all prospects.

Can't see anything else than Drouin as #1 which is ridiculous IMO (okay, not ridiculous but stupid). I think there are 4-6 better prospects than Drouin. But I guess points are all that matter.

I don't see what's wrong with that, you can make a pretty good case for Drouin being the #1 prospect based on what he's accomplished so far. That kid is amazing to watch.

He's number 1 on my list, there is no argument out there to suggest that this is a bad choice. He was CHL player of the year pushed Huberdeau the NHL rookie of the year off the first line at the world juniors and had 140 points in 66 games and 5 points in the memorial cup winning game. He has the best hockey sense and skill from what projects to be one of the best drafts ever.

I watched him live 10 times did you? Never seen a Jr make plays and control the play in the offensive/neutral zone like this player. He goes to where the puck is going, his skating isn't as good as Mackinnon but its still pretty damn good. I have seen Mackinnon, Yakupov, Stamkos, Hall, Tavares, Spezza, Roy, Thornton and the list goes on.

Because virtually no other site charges. Does TSN charge to see Craig Button's list of top prospects? No. And I, like 99% of other sports fans, can also find similar content elsewhere for free.

Drouin is the best player I have seen in the Q since Crosby, I'd say its fair to give him that nod, he has better hockey sense than any prospect out there right now, and he will provide the point production to back up this ranking.

True, but I doubt Button takes time out of his day to watch prospect games. He largely only talks to scouts. And he is also paid handsomly by TSN to do shows. His prospect rankings are a smaller part of what he does and are probaly based on Pronman rankings as well as other scouting agencies

Pronman does a less heralded job thats relatively unimportant to the general people who dont really care about prospect rankings. His sole job is to watch prospects and his compensation is based solely on those rankings. He doesnt have a show like Button has.

Most of the other scouting reports are paywall to save for some free top 30 content (Redline reports etc). And Button, Mckenzie and other free sources just use those scouting reports to create there own.

Pronman provides a very limited scope of info (relatively speaking) but does it very well

I've seen Drouin play in about 10 games as well. I don't mean to say that he's a bad prospect by any means but from what I've seen from Jones, Barkov, MacKinnon and Kuznetsov they all look better for me. Drouin probably does have the most upside of all prospects but I don't think that enough; those four guys are way more safe IMO. But yeah, I probably did overreact a bit in my post.

Might somebody say me how high he has Kucherov (just something like top 50 or top40 or whatever) and how many Lightning prospects are in the list.

Would be really really nice.

With the amount of attention Flames fans give to Shinkaruk you'd almost think he was a prospect of their own
