Canucks fans relate Shinkaruk to Calgary more than Flames fans do.

This draft is considered a stacked draft. That's why.

4 to 6? lol Maybe 2. Jones and MacKinnon..everyone else, no chance.

Drouin probably does have the most upside of all prospects but I don't think that enough; those four guys are way more safe IMO. But yeah, I probably did overreact a bit in my post.
Kuz? haha

That kid is the most over hyped guy going. Can't wait till he comes over and disappoints so many.

Interesting to see they got Pronman to rank a couple goalies which pretty much goes against everything he stands for even if they are far down the list. Makes me wonder how much ESPN exerted an influence over his list, as this also isn't as possession friendly as I have found him to be in the past.

Just surprised where he put some of these guys, but I trust his hockey knowledge, know he even comes around these parts to answer questions. I know it was a good draft class but this list has a shiny new toy look to it in terms of the rankings. But interesting to see it.

Clearly not a big fan of Mantha in terms of players from the Wings which is interesting to see.

You can probably seperate ESPN the entity from this whole equation (which a lot of poster can't seem to do-i.e. seperate ESPN the television network from ESPN the website).

But aren't you the one who just said, "With the amount of attention Flames fans give to Shinkaruk you'd almost think he was a prospect of their own"?

I mean, surely if you bring it up, Flames fans will respond, no?

Why don't Canadiens' fans do this with Poirier, or Ottawa fans with Monahan?

Kuznetsov's skill set is on par with Drouin's and he has already proven that he can play with men on a high level. He's also bigger and better skater. Only reason why I'd rather have Drouin in my team than Kuznetsov is KHL. Seriously, I can't wait to see what Drouin can do in Tampa but he's a bit overrated here.

Regarding this, there was 0 influence from ESPN on the rankings. The list was actually made in July geared for the upcoming Hockey Prospectus book before the move to ESPN happened. I've always said if a goalie prospect is really good I would put them high on a top prospects list. I felt that this year.

I am always open though to reevaluating my process and consistently do that. My goal is to get it right, not to push a specific agenda.

Cheers

Curious Corey, why Mantha comes in so low, is it the compete level we talk about or do you see some significant problems in his puck possession as well? Seems the buzz around the Wings was he was a better passer than expected at their camps this summer. Frk, Mantha, Ouellet and Sproul (less so defensively) have been getting a lot of complements from Jeff Blashill this summer in terms of the qualities he thinks they have.

Also was not meant as a shot, just wondered if they had any demands on goalies being on the list. I also like them because you seem to value guys from all sets of drafts, it seems you are just really high on the last draft, which several people were. Like I said I always enjoy reading your lists and the time you take to answer questions around here. 0 influence is good to know, I have thought at times Sonier is steered for lack of a better term in what he talks about during his draft buildup at times.

Oh wow Drouin at number one. What can i say ESPN . There is a good reason why Mackinnon and Barkov were chosen before him. And there hasn't been any hockey after the draft to change the order.

I have insider (comes with magazine and access to the site) and would say it is one of the things i use the most. But, the main reason i have it are for football (fantasy and general information), basketball and baseball. While espn has improved its hockey content on insider recently, if your only a hockey fan its is definitely not a worthwhile investment.

if you can't post the rankings for everyone to see what's the point of this thread. have this conversation over on the ESPN insider's comments section

What's worse...having a thread like this, or posting "what's the point of having a thread like this?"
