NONSENSE!! It's absolutely clear from the artists' rendering that they will be an eyesore and fully blocking the view of at least 90% of the upper bowl. Drawings don't lie!

Yeah they're right up almost against the ceiling. It remains to be seen how they will interfere with the view of the upper rows in the 200s. I guess we'll find out in 45 days

One question I had relative to the height of the bridges is if they will drown out any of the brighter lights that were installed last year.

I guess it's full steam ahead on scoreboard assembly. They probably have a couple weeks to go before getting it all set up. Then I suppose they'll raise it, bring in the cranes or lifts to refurb the ceiling, and then they can take off the plywood from the floor

You can see how big this thing is going to be by comparing it to a couple of people standing/working nearby.

I wonder will there be a ring/ribbon board at the bottom of the jumbotron. Like the one that's going to be at the top.

Tough to tell from that pic cause we dont know how much of that frame is going to an actual video screen.

Definitely noting like the Tampa scoreboard which I was praying for.

The structure of the building just does not have the headroom to accommodate something like that.

Source?

Would be great. The new panasonics in Florida and the Staples center are sick.

We'll find out soon enough.

Well, Christine Quinn lost the primary, so I guess her yapping about forcing the Garden to move is all moot, now.

Was going on about how they need to re-build penn station to it's original glory.

It was one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. I wouldn't mind. But it was never going to happen especially after all the renovations.

i actually did work on here during the first phase, if i knew this thread existed i would have posted some good pictures for you guys, but not the one of where i hid the cursed voodoo doll.

the sheer amount of activity going on at one time is crazier than any site i have ever been on though. its like a bee hive, but with bearded beer bellied sailor mouthed middle aged men instead of bees.

So what? It is a commuter hub. A place for people to go so they can get OUT of Manhattan. Last thing they need is to make it "beautiful" and have people hanging out in the place.

No one is talking about re-building the old Pennsylvania Station--what planners want to do is expand the current Penn Station--that was built to have a daily capacity of 250,000--to fit the present--over 600,000 commuters a day--and be able to deal with even higher levels in the future.

As others have mentioned, the only way to increase capacity is build more tunnels. The existing lines are maxed out and somehow that basement under MSG manages to get everyone in and out 365 days a year. People are clamoring for nicer digs, but when they see the potential bill they'll just happily return down the rat hole

How many millions of people pass through there each week? There are already tons of people hanging out there. But it's outdated, claustrophobic and generally uninspiring and depressing. Many people are also coming into manhattan...not exactly a warm welcome to the world's greatest city.

Agreed. Penn needs to be nicer and MSG needs to be nicer. However, MSG is well on the way to being improved in the same spot its in now, and though the building has changed a few times, this current edition of MSG has a ton of history. I think the best solution would involve finding a nicer, above-ground building for Penn in the immediate area. I'm not very well educated on the issue, but I remember hearing that there's a huge post office building nearby? Perhaps that could be turned into an extension for Penn somehow?
