One faceoff? He's has a less than 50% face-off % and looses critical faceoffs-like the one you just mentioned
The point was that you didnt mention it the other night when he was a beast on the PK with unbelievable forechecking and drew a SH penalty. Knee jerk reaction.

Our PK is 30th in the league. So he's the best of the worst.
You are taking a quote out of context to validate your already shaky POV.

Axe used to be great on the PK. However, he hasn't been playing up to his expectations. This may be a result of him being tired-I'm not sure. Regardless, the other teams are scoring.
The problem is not Axe. The problem is two fold: Goaltending and systemic. We sit back too much and do not pressure the points enough. Axe is not the issue.

Sturm has all the tools to be a PK specialist. Look at Vermette and Higgins. They not only kill penalties but put up decent offensive numbers on the PK
So you want a guy who also plays on the top two lines who is worse defensively AND on the PK to take Axelsson's place? Wow....now you are starting to make convincing argument.

These suggestions can't do much worse than the current PK situation. Or maybe we could be 31st in the league on the PK :sarcasm
Your suggestions are akin to someone suggesting that when the PP was struggling that Marc Savard should be replaced up front with Shean Donovan. You are trying to change a situation that isnt a part of the problem. Goaltending and the players either playing the system more effectively OR changing the way they kill penalties.

No. Just stating the facts. Our PK is the worst in the NHL.

If we are sitting back too much and not pressuring the points, is that not Axelson's and Primeau's fault? That must be the D's fault, they should charge after the point on the PK

Sturm has speed, decent hands and could cause alot of turnovers. Several teams with the top PK are using fast players with offensive skills on the PK. Consider Roston from Minnesota, Horcoff from Edmonton, Higgins from Montreal, and Vermette from Ottawa. These teams are 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 14th in the league on the PK. They not only have a better PK % than Boston, but have also put up more shorthanded goals. However, we would be foolish to consider such a system

In regards to not being defensively responsible, he is a career +51.

Absolutely not. Donovan doesn't have the skills to be effective on the PP whereas Sturm has the speed and skills to play on the PK- not to mention over 200 minutes played on the PK the last few seasons. It's more analagous to me suggesting playing Kessel on the PP if the PP was struggling.

I'm just stating that things must change- we are 30th in the league.
