Mtl/Van

To Montreal:
Roberto Luongo
Bo Horvat

To Vancouver:
Carey Price

I seems like both goalies could use a fresh start in a new city. Because of Luongo's age and contract, Vancouver could sweeten the deal with Horvat, which would give Montreal some much needed size up front.

Flamed you re gonna be....

Van would never do that. Luongo is arguably better than Price and Horvat is probably their best prospect.

Essentially Luongo and Schneider for Price.

Moves like this don't get done in season, especially during training camp.

So it's Luongo and the asset from the Schneider trade for Price. I don't think the Canucks would have even traded Schneider for Price straight up.

If the Canucks were going to trade Luongo in a package for another high profile starter (or former one), I think it might be the Pens' MAF. Now it would depend a lot on Luongo's performance before the trade deadline (winning a Gold Medal as a starter in Sochi with Crosby would help immensely) to determine if has any real trade value.

"van/mtl" proposal I went "ohhhh not again."
Im a habs fan first of all.

The future would look great. We would have to rely heavily on Fucale thats the only problem. luongo isnt old but takes time to develop prospects.

I dont think vancouver does it. Pretty bad for them.

this makes absolutely no sense for both teams. the Habs take on a terrible contract while the Canucks give up an asset they just acquired from the Schneider trade.

shut 'er down.

Awful. Canucks give up the better goalie and a top prospect just to get younger at the goalie position?

It's difficult to tell what value both goalies have now. Price didn't play that well last year and Luongo was the backup.

The Habs I'm sure wouldn't trade Price straight up for Luongo...but the difference in value wouldn't be Horvat, that's for sure.

From a practical perspective, does Vancouver have the space to absorb the additional cap hit that would come with Price's contract?

Vancouver has 2.4mil (approx.) in cap space to accommodate Price's additional 1.2 mil of cap hit.

I counter with:

To Montreal:
Tanev
1st

To Vancouver:
Subban

If the Canucks wanted to go with a stud young goaltender in net and no Bo Horvat, they would've just dumped Luongo somehow and kept Schneider.

So...

The deal needs to be tweaked a bit. Take out price and put in Lars Eller. Take out Horvat and put in Tom Sestito. Take out Luongo and insert Yann Sauve

To Montreal
Sauve
Sestito

To Vancouver
Lars Eller

win/win

and the Canucks aren't taking on a horrible contract? we would have to shed salary to downgrade our goalie position

you must be talking about Horvat's contract? My understanding is he signed a standard ELC, whats so terrible about it?

Certainly you cant be talking about Luongo's contract. It is in fact one of the best contracts ever allowed by the NHL, evidence is they have now outlawed future contracts to be structured in that team friendly manner.

5.3m cap hit for a top tier netminder is terrible?

Any other cliche's you want to suggest? Sedin Sisters? Kesler is a diver?
