Yeah, I never saw the harm of seeing if he could improve his foot speed for the NHL level. It's not like we needed to give another contract to Mayer.

Same here. Let just hope that they didn't take that decision based on limited viewings....It can't be. Who is covering that part of Europe?

For those who missed it, Crisp had a hat trick in his first scrimmage playing left wing on a line with McDavid and Brow; and again in his second scrimmage playing right wing with two other line mate.

Quoted below are some comment from a poster on the Erie Otter.

Thanks for any comment on this surprise pick for the habs.
I'm sorry, I can't remember yesterdays hat-trick haha bad memory. But today, his first goal was just a rebound goal, second goal was a wrister in the slot, but the third goal was absolutely filthy. He was one on one with a defender in overtime, pulled the puck back then snapped it forward, laser of a wrist shot that went bar-down for the win. He improves his skating skills and his moves in the offensive zone and he could be a good player.

Also, for the otters fans: no official word on cuts yet, but based off two players twitter reactions, I'd say it looks like Quentin Maksimovich has made it through the final round of cuts and Thomas Lattavo has not.

Great news about Crisp, will boost his confidence. Can't wait to hear about our other kids' debut.

Very likely.

But expect Hudon to get traded in December for a king's ransom.

Artturi Lehkonen with one assist in his first regular season game. Played in the second line with Kasperi Kapanen (17yrs) and Luke Pither (24yrs).

Just wanted to post a comment from a finnish poster from the prospects thread that touched on that line's game today:

Kapanen - Pither - Lehkonen was only line that did well enough from Kalpa today. I liked how they shoot it alot and play straightforward. Good start to season for KK.

Three players were assigned to their junior team today: Jérémy Grégoire (Baie Comeau, QMJHL), Connor Crisp (Sudbury – OHL) et Tim Bozon (Kamloops – WHL).

From what I see, no points for Lehkonen and De la Rose today. And Rosie is surely -1.

If the Habs can sign Gagne & Morrow, there will be no need to sign players @ the trade deadline. Also if they miss the playoffs some of the players signed could gain the Habs extra draft picks, a win/win anyway you slice it. Having players like Briere, Murray, Gagne, Morrow, Markov, Diaz and a few others as UFA's at the trade deadline could land the Habs another good haul at the draft table this summer.

My outlook with parity is if the Habs make the playoffs, great let's win the SC. If they miss the playoffs then make damn sure they get draft choices for all the good veterans they trade and pave the way for a dynasty with quality depth in the system.

Missing the playoffs should mean some payoff and the draft is the only place to find redemption for a poor season.

Sign Gagne and Morrow and then what? Send Gallagher to the AHL? Waive who?

We don't have the cap space or roster space to sign two more vet top nine forwards.

Aren't we in a prospect thread? Man.. people have some difficulties with that concept.

At the end of this interview, Collberg says that he already has 3g1a in 5 games in Sweden... but according to (http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=16836), their season hasn't even started. Anyone knows if it is a normal delay of the site or something?!

«On me fait davantage confiance cette année, je joue sur le troisième trio et on m'utilise en avantage numérique, a indiqué Collberg. J'ai déjà trois buts et une mention d'aide en cinq matchs.»

Plus it would disrupt chemistry taht helped them finish 4th overall last year.

Oh well... thanks. As cool as it is, always easier to put up points in pre-season game.

It was the European Trophy tournament. I'm not sure how competitive that is, but I gather it's at least a little bit more full speed than "pre-season" games.

Well there are ways around that like the injury list and there are always injuries. Like Gallagher says he'll be listening and playing, using the tips he gets from Briere. Having players like Gagne and Morrow as well to pass on their knowledge to our youngsters, can only be a good thing. The Habs can carry a couple more players with the injuries they always seem to get and veterans like them for $1 mil / season. While slowly recovering the vets can spot in back and forth teaching and making sure to stay in shape for the playoffs.

It's the prospect thread and the players I'm talking about will be their (prospects) teachers, hopefully. When the Habs were winning SC's in the past, their veterans quite often sat out for a few games at Christmas and helped with the young guns. The concept of having these players on injured reserve and helping teach at $1 mil per season, just seems like good business. When the trade deadline is looming would be about the right time for them to get serious icetime to be ready for a long playoff run. Sorry about ruining your day, I guess not everyone's perfect like you.

I don't think that chemistry is going to be as big as the amount of games they played. The Habs had quite a turnover of players and coaches in the off season, Bergevin taking on a whole new staff and quite a few players. Chemistry would be one of the factors in favor of signing players like Gagne & Morrow, definitely team players those two.

It's probably a good idea to temper expectations for the upcoming season. The Emelin, Gionta, Pacioretty and Prust injuries were at about the 40 - 48 game mark. If the Habs suffer a list of injuries without having depth at forward as well as defence, this could become a really long regular season.

At the moment the Habs have a lot of interesting prospects and invitees/signings for their minor league development system. The challenge is finding a way to keep these guys in the organization while keeping the the team under the 50 man roster limit. That means signing some of the players to AHL/ECHL contracts and hoping they don't get a better offer from another NHL team if they have a good season.

It doesn't necessarily mean that Hamilton or Wheeling will be championship caliber teams because it looks like they will be young but there is definitely potential among the individual players and it will be interesting to see how it develops.

In keeping with that organizational depth theme, it wouldn't surprise me to some minor trades and/or package deals during the season to free up some roster space for the next wave of prospects.

It will be one of the most interesting years in a long time at every level of the organization from the Habs on down through the minor leagues and the amateur prospects.

Seriously? This is such a overrated concept. There are changes every year. For every team even the ones that go far in the playoffs. Chemistry is used when it's not going well. Fresh blood is used when it's going well. And it's not like we're 3/4 into the season.....you have time to build some chemistry.
