I'm not sure I agree. When the NHL had white as the home jersey, aways were still the better sell.

That's interesting. Personally, I've always gravitated towards white jerseys - in most cases they're more aesthetically appealing in terms of cleanliness and simplicity. The big draw in the home jerseys now for me is the array of color that further helps to distinguish one team from another.

Nothing.

Anyone who hasn't seen Kucherov play should watch this game; he was such a dangerous player every time he touched the puck. Played with a lot of confidence and created lots of scoring chances. Drouin and Nesterov played well, too but Sergeev was pretty invisible IIRC.

Apparently Drouin put on 7 pounds of muscle over the summer and is now at 195. Very happy to hear that!

I said it in development camp watching the players how they handle themselves, how focused they were on doing the things needed or which ones chased girls seemed interested in finding a fun time etc...

The two guys I was most impressed with were drouin and kucherov. This had absolutely nothing to do with their on ice displays. Was more how they handled themselves carried themselves and the maturity they both displayed.

They came in serious and for Drouin to be 18 is pretty amazing to see he has that factor dont even know what to call it but you can see it in him. Having the will to know where he wants to get to and nothing is going to stand in his way. That he will pay whatever price necessary to get where he feels he belongs.

I think Kucherov is same honestly we will see how special these two become.

Drouin seems to be playing it with a chip on shoulder like OH YEAH I WASNT PICKED FIRST hehe.

Pretty awesome!!

Can't wait to see how he looks to start the season. Complete conjecture, but I don't think he'll be going anywhere following his 9 game stint in Tampa...

Which is tragic

1. Jonathan Drouin, LW, Tampa Bay Lightning

Drouin, the third pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, has the highest fantasy ceiling of any player in his class entering year one. The dynamic forward made a name for himself in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season (41 goals, 64 assists in 49 games) by not only scoring but by finding his teammates, one of whom was Nathan MacKinnon, who was drafted No. 1 by the Colorado Avalanche. Drouin, 18, was held out of Canada's summer development camp because of a sore foot but should be a top-six forward for Tampa Bay in 2013-14. He could earn time on the Lightning's top line with Steven Stamkos, the NHL's top goal-scorer and point-producer over the past three seasons, and Martin St. Louis, who led the League with 60 points in 2012-13. Considering Drouin likely will be taken outside the top 100 in most leagues, he has a chance to be a steal as a rookie and needs to be your priority in mid-to-late rounds.

Projection: 25 G, 35 A, plus-3, 20 PIM, 11 PPP, 210 SOG

Not sure if I agree with that projection.

210 sog. For smallish rookie playmaker. Seems quite a lot. Also in that projection he would get 49 ES points. That is more than Pat Kane got on his rookie season. If Drouin gets 60 points (certainly no impossibility) I'd expect the assist amount be a bit higher and more points on pp.

...Drouin admitted to feeling a few butterflies when he met Marty St. Louis and Steven Stamkos — his potential linemates when Tampa Bay opens the season Oct. 3 in Boston — for the first time.

“Marty has pretty much been a legend in the NHL now for a long time, and Stamkos ...” Drouin said, his thoughts trailing off. “So, obviously, there are nerves and you don’t want to do something bad.”
Quote:
“He’s always been a top offensive player, and putting up numbers has always been a part of him being a good player,’’ Lightning director of scouting Al Murray said. “So, we are looking for him to be creative offensively. We are looking for him to be a two-way player, because he’s (been) a pretty responsible two-way player. And we feel we have a pretty smart player here, so we are not looking for a one-way player.’’
Quote:
“Now, you are working with men and against men, and that’s a whole other step,’’ Murray said. “Some guys handle it well. Other guys aren’t ready for it. But we are hoping he’s one of the guys that can handle it. That’s still to be seen."

...at the Lightning's summer prospects camp, the left wing displayed a skill set coach Jon Cooper called "jaw-dropping."

That said, camp games were three-on-three with little defense and zero hitting, which is why Cooper said "you can't judge out of that situation" how Drouin's skills will translate to the league.

More telling, Cooper said, is how Drouin elevated his game at crucial times, specifically at the 2013 world junior championship in which he had two goals, four points in six games for Canada as an "underage" player. He had a goal and nine points in four games as Halifax won the Memorial Cup given to the Canadian junior leagues champion.

"On the biggest stages he's found a way," Cooper said. "I put much more stock in that."
Quote:
"There's a professionalism about him that is well beyond his years," Cooper said. "But he still has that kid in him. If he has that kind of grasp of his on-ice game as well, he could be a special player."
Quote:
Is Drouin NHL ready? "I wouldn't bet against him, that's for sure," Halifax coach Dom Ducharme said. "It will be an adjustment. But if there is one thing he showed it's his capacity to learn and adapt very quickly."

So they are going to give Drouin a shot at center.

So we have stamkos valtteri and thompson signed for a number of years. We have johnson who seems ideal for 3rd line scoring energy line type and killorn if needed?

What is the upside of this? Will it impact his game to be more versatile more well rounded? Just wanting some feed back on what is upside to this move?

Flip could be a fine winger, too. Also, you can NEVER have too many centers.

Actually like flip as a winger. Be interesting to see how good drouin is at face offs.

When they moved him to center in the prospects tournament the reasoning from Zettler was he'd be more involved in the action of the game and therefore get more chances to pick up the puck on his stick. We all know what can happen when Drouin's got control of the puck. He can make amazing things happen. I image that's what Yzerman wants to see with Drouin, him able to use his incredible hands and vision and touch the puck as much as he can. Cooper also had great puck possession teams in Norfolk and Syracuse, and it's possible they see Drouin playing Coop's style more effectively at center. That could be how this switch impacts the game.

This. Drouin might play center down the road or he may never it, but the coaches just want to see what the possibilities are. If Drouin can play a little bit of center it helps in the different line combinations they can form too.
