I think the fact that both fanbases think my suggestion is horrible for their own team means it's probably a very fair trade.

If the Canucks fans are convinced it's so onesided then maybe Montreal could also add Leblanc or a 3rd.

Value doesn't matter, the trade makes no sense for us anyways. The Canucks are in win-now mode, and right now Luongo is both better than and cheaper than Price. I wouldn't trade Luongo alone for Price.

Yeah Luongo the goalie who was one win away from being the first goalie ever to be a member of the tripple gold club is 'the biggest choke goalie of all time,' while the great Price has only ever won 1 playoff round. Pretty hilarious you're calling the Sedins' soft when your team has arguably the softest top 6 in the league. And this is without mentioning the fact the Sedins' would have led your team in scoring the past 5 years.

That is an unintelligent way to gauge whether a trade is fair or not. Maybe its horrible because it actually is a horribly thought out proposal? Ever thought about that? Neither team likes this trade because it doesn't fill either teams needs.

I wouldn't call that arguable.

I understand why Van fans hate this trade. And I agree that Horvat is off the table.

But if Luongo plays with little to no heart, you guys are royally screwed.

I think both goalies would excel after a change of scenery.

Price had an off year. But so did Quick yet he is still considered an elite goalie.

And if we are talking about off years. Luongo wasn't exactly stellar as a back up..

The trade could work, but not straight up and not with Horvat.

there is no way. the Habs would be stuck with his cap hit til 2021-22. i don't care what 'Nucks fans say - Luongo isn't an upgrade over Price.

Thanks to Olympics, Lu's gotta perform whether his heart is out of town or not.
And does Price have a Cup or Conn Smythe on his resume? Quick and Price are not comparable...

What do you think Vancouver would give for Leblanc Moen and a pick or Bournival

None of those pieces really does anything for us, so not much.

That's like talking to Lightning fans about Lecavalier or Penguins fans about Staal for the last 2 or 3 years. We're not going to trade Staal and Vinny is going to retire as a Bolt and yet neither is still there. It's the obviousness of it all that the local fans miss out on. I'm sure if I come back in a year from now I'll be listening to a whole new choir about moving on and how it was the best for everyone involved.

It isn't just Canucks fans, go look at the polls forum Luongo blew Price out, most experts think Luongo will start over Price in the Olympics and all stats are in favor or Luongo. I'd like to see you make an argument of why Price is better than Luongo instead of just saying 'lol @ Luongo being an upgrade over Price'

i'm sure he is. still wouldn't trade him for Luongo's contract. even if you think Luongo is better - that contract removes whatever edge you think he has on Price.

I'm not arguing Luong having more value because he doesn't. But in terms of playing ability Price is a downgrade on Luongo.

I commented on the proposal earlier but wanted to add...

I seems like both goalies could use a fresh start in a new city. Because of Luongo's age and contract, Vancouver could sweeten the deal with Horvat, which would give Montreal some much needed size up front.
Awesome proposal - after reading this thread, I'm 100% confident that the responses are exactly what you were hoping they would be.

True that we have arguably the softest top 6 in the league just imagine how soft it would be with the Sedins in our lineup. They would be the softest two players on our team.Nothing hilarious about having arguably the softest two forwards in the league.
You keep Lu because we have no want or need for him as long as we have Price.

Hell he might even make the team this year as our 3rd line center (not saying we should do this).
So you wouldn't trade a 3rd liner for Price. That cements your rep right there

What happened to the Op? He kind of disappeared after making a real crappy proposal. He should come back and explain this proposal instead of throwing this proposal out there and sitting back giggling while Hab and Canuck fans go at each other.
