Yeah, I forgot that. Remembered after I posted. Thanks for adding.
I still think a bit of experimentation, especially with Cam makes some sense.

I'm with you, EK, I'd particularly like to see how Cam could do at left wing - perhaps, eventually:

Atkinson/Anisimov/Gaborik?

That might work! Then:

Umberger/Johansen/Horton
Letestu/Dubinsky/Foligno
Comeau/MacKenzie/Calvert

Boll

Could flip RJ and Test Tube and Calvert and Comeau have looked adequate higher in the lineup, too.

I can't wait to see how it all plays out!

Was this to help those of us who have trouble with pronunciation?

I'm thinking about going to the first practice in the morning. I'm guessing it will be pretty crowded at the Ice Haus. Do I need to be there early to get a seat, or are there likely to be seats available anytime?

What we've all been waiting to hear:

-- F R.J. Umberger said he's lost 7-8 pounds this summer, part of an effort to become quicker. "I did a lot more speed and explosive training," Umberger said. "And that was probably the most clean eating I've ever done. I dropped some weight. I wasn't overweight, it was just something I wanted to do personally. I'm still as strong as can be. All of my (fitness testing) numbers went up. But ever since I've been in the league, it was "be a big guy, go 220 pounds or 220 plus. That's what I was always told. But playing at 214-215, I'm still as strong. I feel pretty good right now."

An interesting point made in a Cannon blog today: DMac, at 32, is the oldest player in camp!

He certainly has something to prove. He wasn't in game shape last season until March, I would wager that isn't the case this year. This is a very important season for him and his future on this team imo.

Interesting comment from Richards in the media Q&A after practice:

http://bluejackets.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=682290

Q: Melart? He didn’t seem to be making a lot of friends.

TR: “I asked our guys, I said one thing that we have to do—and I say this every year and it doesn’t matter whether it’s the first day of training camp or Dec. 30 and you’re practicing—we have to approach practices with some intensity. Respect your teammates, we’re family out there, but in order for us to get better, we need some intensity in practice. That means going into corners hard, and respectful. He did that and I think he caught a couple of guys off-guard but that’s how you drive practice. That’s what drives practice and gets the intensity going and he’s making himself better but what he’s also doing is making his teammates better too.”

Competition is a wonderful thing. Want a spot? earn it, show us what you got.

Gotta love it.

Good to hear umby slimmed down a bit. Pics I saw of him at fan fest he appears to be fit. Really hope we can find some continuity with our forward lines this year. Were solid all the way through but it's always seemed like we've had a lot of similar puzzles pieces instead of the ones that fit together. Kinda seems to me like Melart could be Ole Tollefsen part deluxe...possibly with a bit more upside? We shall see. Sounds like an interesting 7th guy perhaps.

I'm bringing my boyfriend to the scrimmage on Saturday. I've never been to one before so for those of you who have gone to them before I have a logistics question or two. It's in the main arena, yes? And do we just show up? Will it be obvious where to sit? Inquiries minds want to know. Thanks guys!

Thx for this and I'm looking forward to hear more from Melart in the camp.

So the first exhibition game is Sunday. Looks like 2 days is enough to get in game shape? Seems to me there were a bunch of injuries last time around with quick x games? Plus I know that different players sit from game to game but 3 in 4 days? Good to evaluate players and I guess foro owners checkbook but seems like an invite to injury to me.

From the Jackets website:

Kristyn Repke:
Melart has (literally) been a big presence so far. He's been physical along the boards and even occasionally after the whistle

.................................................. .....................

Go Melart! Would be cool if he makes the team as 7th dman.
