Joe Finley
Eric Boulton (depending on how camp goes, but less likely than Finley)

My opinion of who's most expendable is...
  1. Thorburn; fan favourite, etc, but he's not in our future. With the acquisition of Peluso, Thorburn is redundant. Peluso can fight better, skate better, and even show a bit of offense.
  2. Pardy; if Ian White's PTO pans out into a contract.
  3. Jokinen or Wright; if Scheifele and O'Dell both make the team.
Huh? Capgeek has a tentative roster. On if you use capgeek - Trouba and adding a Lowry/O'Dell, you still have Halischuk, Cormier, Gordon, Samson all hitting the waiver wire before the start of the season.

I am hoping they keep Halischuk, don't think Lowry will be ready and Halischuk is more versatile then O'Dell in terms of roles he can play. I am hoping one of Thorburn or Peluso is placed on waivers and sent to St. John's.

I think Pardy should be gone regardless of if they sign White. He is clearly the #8 maybe even #9, IMO. And I don't believe in going with 13f, 8d roster. Better to have a callup guy in St. John's as the #8 keeping him game speed, than have your #8 sitting in press box for months and months at a time then expecting him to step in and play hockey.

Some people confuse "what I think will happen" with "what I hope will happen". Less than 0% chance Moen gets waived after camp.

Hunwick, yes, and hopefully someone claims him.

Olver, why? He makes $650k, and can easily just be assigned to the AHL this season. Or kept up as the 13th forward.

With the Flyers' current logjam on defense, Gervais is a likely candidate.

Interesting. I might trade Paul Bissonnette for Cody McCormick. The latter can hang with light heavies but is willing to deal with pests. BizNasty can hang with top heavies, but won't engage anyone under light heavy. That makes him less than useful, really. Both are good defensive players. I just think McCormick is more of a true blood and guts kind of player, where as Biz is just happy to be in the NHL and is content to have a staged bout with another heavy on the rare occasion he actually dressed for a game.

For the Devils I think one of Tedenby or Olesz is at risk. Tedenby more so, but I hope he can break through.

If by Moen and Drewiske you mean Tarnasky, St-Pierre and maybe Dumont, then yes.

Moen and Drewiske will start the year in Montreal unless 1 forward and 2 D impresses enough at camp to force MB's hands.

Korbinian Holzer (most likely to be claimed, could be traded before hand)
T.J. Brennan
Trevor Smith
Drew MacIntyre
Troy Bodie
Kevin Marshall

Which is why the Sabres wouldn't do that at all, McCormick offers something. As for the description of Biz, we already have that exact type of player in John Scott

If Moen is going to be waived then why did so many MTL fans think that Moen and a 3rd would suffice for Brian Boyle who has zero chance of being waived and is a very serviceable player?

I wasn't suggesting a trade. This is the waivers thread. I was saying I'd be tempted to claim McCormick if waived, and then put Biz on the wire.

I like how there are literally 10 other Montreal fans in this thread alone refuting his claim, yet you still chose to use it as a representation of the Montreal fanbase's opinion as a whole.

Impressive.

I know this is the waivers thread. I was just thrown off by the word "trade" in your first post, my bad

Ah ha. That makes sense. I guess "replace"would've been a better word. My bad.

for the Flames:

Almost guaranteed they will be waived:
Greg Nemisz, Paul Byron, Ben Street, Blair Jones and Ryan Howse are placed on waivers.

Pretty good chance they will be waived:
Mark Cundari, Chris Breen, Derek Smith

Small chance they will be waived:
Tim Jackman, Joey MacDonald

For the Sabres:

One of Tallinder/McBain/Sulzer likely isn't going to make the team:

Ehrhoff-Myers
Weber-Pysyk
Zadarov-Ristolainen
Tallinder, McBain

With Sulzer being on the waiver wire. If Both Zad and Risto make the roster after their 9 game stint, look for one of Tallinder/McBain to hit the wires as well.

is it really likely that both Zadarov and Ristolainen make the Sabres?

Both Zadorov and Ristolainen?

McBain will make it.

Unless Holzer has been put on waivers because of cap issues.

In that case, picking up either one of these would defeat the purpose as one of them makes $40K more than Holzer, and the other one only $76K less.
