I don't know if the answer is obvious, but he probably said - "seriously?" - because he can't believe you are keeping even 1 of them.

Pietrangelo gets same deal as Karlsson in Ottawa - 7 yrs x $6.5 M. Blues and Petro camp re-engaged this morning.

Surprised a contract like that took so long. I think this is excellent value for the Blues, I though Pietrangelo had enough leverage to get a little more.

I didn't really believe that Stillman was going to let Armstrong put all that money on payroll.

They'll still have plenty of room to make some minor moves as well.

still a pretty mediocre roster for a team that is almost at the cap.

Eh, I wouldn't take the Blues lightly. Have us and the Kings above them in the West, but certainly wouldn't be surprised to see them take the next step in the next season or two.

How? They don't score enough goals. Their first line center is 28 and has broken 55 points once in his career. Chris Stewart is their best offensive player and he's a career .6 ppg player. They had a good year 2 years ago when Brian Elliot had a ridiculous career year. Its not like its a team full of young super stars just waiting to break out.

And they still had the third best record in the West last year in spite of their issues.

Not saying they're a dynasty in the making, but I wouldn't be at all shocked to see them do damage, as we've seen teams inferior to them getting hot at the right moment. Plus, doesn't hurt that they probably get to smack around one of the also-plays teams in the Central in the first round next playoffs, so that doesn't hurt their odds of advancing either. They're also the type of team I could see taking advantage of someone better being bit by the injury bug or having an off-night.

Again, they're not favorites, but they're more than good enough that you shouldn't just assume that we'll be able to cakewalk over them.

Here is the Hawks record vs the Blues the last 4 seasons

15-7-1 and one of those losses was the last game of last year where the Hawks didn't dress their starters so really 15-6-1. I'll assume we'll cakewalk them until they prove otherwise.

I'm not arguing the quality of the roster, I didn't think they would be able to keep Pietrangelo, Stewart, Berglund, and Shattenkirk for only 18 million against the cap. They're in better shape than I thought they would be in.

St. Louis will go nowhere until they can score, and there's no sign of that happening anytime soon.

I think they are also a little bit of a product of the coach in that Hitch gets more out of his players than most. The sesame will get old and they will struggle a little.

I also agree with the lack of scoring. They have nothing to speak of that scares you offensively.

Their scoring was a reason I was a bit surprised they ditched Perron.

I just looked at their stats from last year. Their top scorer was Stewart w/ 36 pts in 48 games. #2 was Backes w/ 28 pts in 48 games.

This whole situation in Detroit with Cleary and their subsequent lack of roster and cap space is highly amusing. It would be even more so if they started moving some of their "amazing" prospects.

I believe Detroit can defer Alfredsson's bonus until next year. I don't think they'll have too much trouble getting bodies out of the way and Helm may start on LTIR. I think they have a couple bodies with waiver exemptions left too.

I don't think their transition will be too dramatic. Emmerton, Tootoo, or Eaves (any combination) being buried or moved shouldn't make much of a difference in the season.

Had enough of that clown. He sucks. Is his Dad a scout there or something because there must be better players in the AHL.

Watched the Flyers v Leafs pre-season game last night.

Seeing Bolland in another jersey for the first time stung, can't lie.

Think he will be great for them though, they gave him an "A", deserves it.

Says a lot about our team that so many of our former players get made captains and alternates in short fashion when they're sent elsewhere.

The "A" was just for the pre-season game...Kadri also had one....most of the regulars didn't play. I don't know if he's going to have it all season. Last year's As were McClement, Lupul, and MacArthur. MacArthur is gone now, so I don't know who the third A will go to...maybe Bolland, Clarkson, or someone else...kessel?

I think Bolland keeps the "A". Not many 2 time Cup champions on that roster.

Yeah, don't get the scheduling of that at all, not that it's an excuse for a draw that makes the Marlins look like a hot ticket by comparison.

Bissonette was indeed suspended for 10 games.
