ok......
depends on the details, his contract will slid for the next two years, but it's possible that he will get a signing bonus. To me it shows the Habs feel confident in him, but in the end all it does is just get the contract out of the way, as it would be highly unlikely that he wouldn't be signed in 2 years anyway so there's little risk/downside here just a formality.

no, you don't need to be signed to an NHL contract to play in a preseason game.

Just have one question....why? And no....because they can is NOT an appropriate answer....Is that contract even if he's in Juniors counts against the 50 contract limit?

no, junior aged contracts don't count against the 50 contract limit unless they are in the NHL for more then 9 games.

I am very interested to see how the organization will handle Fucale in comparison to Price. Drafting and signing a guy are the easy parts, it's what comes after that's important.

u know keep the goalie that was just drafted in 2nd round, and trade our current one that is "worth" a top 10 pick.

Logic.

I am going to assume/hope that Nedved is using sarcasm to argue that Price was rushed/mishandled, and that Fucale won't be.

I'm hoping, anyway.

From my understanding, they gave the contract as a show of faith, meaning that they expect good things from him and that when he's ready he has a place in the organisation. And from this show of faith, he'll likely get a 90k signing bonus (as of today, or maybe the first day of the season) but he won't be collecting any of his salary and it's just going to slide until he's in Montreal or Hamilton.

The guy you quoted suggested that he can't wait to see how he is handled compared to Price -- aka not rushing him.

Your response = LET'S RUSH HIM!

Yeah, okay.

When Price was drafted, everyone was floored because the Habs had Theodore who was just entering his prime. No one thought he would be gone a year later. All smart organizations plan ahead. Boston drafted Subban with Rask just starting to blossom. Who knows what the future holds.

Yea, that`s what I was thinking.
I like the pick and this has nothing to do with Price.

I remember reading somewhere that the signing bonus gets spread out over 4 years instead of 3 years so his cap hit will be lower when he does make it. It will only be something like 30-40K less but I suppose every little bit helps.

This is the only viable option I can think of. Does anyone else have a different idea?

Good looking goalie....seen some camp highlights. Habs may found a steal in 2nd round.
