Nyrb missing Cahill today but Houston is absolutely decimated. We should get the three points even tho it is a road game

I watched the replay multiple times. Not one player was offsides from the picture they showed.

Actually it could have been offside...not in the 'normal' sense but if you're beyond all but the last defender before you receive the ball it's offsides, even if the last defender isn't the goalkeeper. It's just that the goalkeeper usually is the last defender between the attacker and the goal so few people realize that about the offside rule.

http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/footba...d=1290867.html

Hard to tell from just the picture though cause you don't see when the ball's played.

EDIT: Found the video...it's offsides - go to :40 or so...when the ball's kicked in, the white shirt's on the ground beyond everyone.

The guy at the back post is in an offside position if the ball was played to him at that moment.

As has been pointed out, the guy at the near post is actually offside.

Ridiculous aspect of the rule but it's true.

It's why on a 2-man v the goalie breakway, the player receiving the pass needs to be BEHIND the ball.

Are you actually kidding me? What the hell is that?

When I saw it live I assumed he said something to the ref....didn't realize he wasn't allowed to walk backwards.

When I was young, going over on the ankle didn't hurt that much. Now, in my 30's, it's a bit different.

Now official. US to play at Scotland on 11/15. Also a strong possibility to host Spain around that time too.

The one I was at was a couple of years ago just after Spain had won the World Cup up at Foxboro. 4-0 Spain win. It was cool seeing how smooth Spain operates and all of that in person. It was not so cool watching the US get destroyed and fail to do much of anything. It was really not cool seeing Fernando Torres even somehow score. So yeah. Even though the US team and the way they played has changed greatly, its still fair to expect them to get out played, even though the result may vary.

I'd go in expecting Spain to win. Half the point of going to a game like that is to see some of the best soccer players in the world play, when you normally would never get the chance. Even if it's a friendly, even if we get destroyed, it's still cool to say you got to see the superstars play.

Wouldn't count on it being anywhere close to NY if it's played in around November/December.

When was the last time the US actually played a game around here? They weren't even here in '94, they were like in Detroit and a couple other cities.
