OT Nintendo Wii

So who else was crazy enough to pick one up? Waited in line today from 5:20AM to about 10:00AM but I got one...got in trouble when I got home but i think my GF has since forgiven me...she's not a video game fan but i played a few games with her and she seemed to have as much fun as I did....

A day I wont forget anytime soon!
would I wait in line like this every again? Heck no but i figured i'd be less likely to do it the next time the consoles are out so I figured now was the time to do this crazy thing

How do you like the controls? Will the novelty fad away fast?

Lucky you!

I want one but I don't want to buy it now...anyways, it's already sold out. I'll wait after christmas and if I'm lucky, I will be able to find a couple of used game so I will not have to pay over 60$ each.

That's what I don't like when a system is out...

Wii system: 280 (cool, not expensive)
One game: 65$ (damn, for only one game who will be half price in 3 months)
One memory card SD: 40$ (gosh, it starting to be expensive)
An extra controller: 65$ (way to expensive)

So you can't get a system for less than 400$...the basic price looks nice, but with everyting in extra(and you have to buy them), it's not that cheap.

Still got up early for nothing!!

At least I got some McDs breakfast out of this!

That would be awesome. I thought about the exact same thing. Imagine deking, wrist shooting and making slap shot. I would buy a Wii just for that.

My GFs brother got one, I tried it out, it's pretty cool.

For those who want one but can't find one...I'll give you a tip...

Try Sears, or even better, those big Maxi & cie stores. They sell video games but not many people know about that.

Didn't play and im not interested one bit im a pc gamer, it's very expensive and obsolete after 2 years or so and the game are wayy too expensive like Freaky Habs fan said. At least on Pc you can upgrade it and games are easy to get for free.

Anyone saw South Park episode when Cartman can't wait for the Nitendo Wii ? It's pretty good

Darn! I went down to the video game store this week and the clerk said I should have no trouble getting my hands on one, so I did not go today.

Anyway, I have a friend who works at a retail outlet and he told me they have lots and he will get me one. Hope he was right.

If you want to have the same power with your PC it's going to cost you more than the console. And yes you can upgrade your PC but those upgrades can be very costly, the best video cards are sold at 500-600 bucks (CAN$) which is pretty much the price of a console itself. With your console you are pretty much guaranteed to have at least 4 years of gaming (you don't have to worry if your machine can handle the games) but with your PC you might have 1-2 years of guaranteed gaming because the best new games always require a big system.

I only bought Zelda although I almost picked up 2 more games today but felt i should wait
I also bought an extra remote/controller yesterday...that by itself is 45.00 and it controls most games...some games though require an extra attachment called the nukchuk which is 25.00....they were out of those by the time I got to pick so I will have to buy another nukchuk at some point....

I played Bowling and Golfing using the demo disc included with my Girlfriend and that was a lot of fun...she doesnt like video games but had a blast (actually i was pretty tired and didnt want to play anymore but she wanted to keep playing)

Hockey would be pretty cool with this....they could use the nukchuk to control the skating and the wiimote to control the passing/slapshots/hits

The only reason games are cheap for PC is because everyone just pirates them... A brand-new, store-baught PC game of any quality will set you back 70 bucks (Depending on where you buy it), more then a Wii game.

Wow, at that price you can get a XBOX 360 platinum or whatever it's called with 2 controlers, a hard disk et 3 games...

EDIT: Well, 0 games actually...

I just went with a 360 about a month ago. It seems to be the best out of the 3 for me.

Depends what you are after ... I myself have had a 360 since it came out, and I am very happy with it, but I still got a Wii to experience their exclusive games/controls...

I am usually pro-PS, but this time I opted for a 360 and Wii, which in the end was about as expensive as just a PS3... Especially now that GTA isn't exclusive to PS anymore ... I will get a PS3 eventually, but I'll wait till the price drops. Or at least until Blue Ray wins it's war, cuz if it loses, no point in paying 700$ for a PS3...

BTW, anyone who wanted a Wii...

After searching all day Sunday, this afternoon I went downtown to check the last stores I hadn't yesterday... Game Buzz on St-Cath had 2 systems left, except you have to get an extra remote, accessory and 4 games ...

I thought about it for about 5 minutes, and decided to buy it. I would have gotten the extra remote anyways, and the nunchuk remote counted as an accessory, so I got that ... And I would have gotten 2-3 games anyways, so I wasn't gonna pass up my chance just because of 1 game... So I finally got mine too

When I left there was still one system/bundle left...
