To good for the AHL, not good enough for a full time role in the NHL. He's miles ahead of Lashoff tough!

In both case, we don't know.
Nygren was better as the game was going on.

Was disappointed with Colberg, Reway, Andrighetto. Was hoping they'd have a better game. St-Pierre, Bournival, Nystrom, Macarron, Pateryn were impressive. Nygren was ok. Tinordi was pretty good. Lashoff and Drewskie were awful. Hopefully Lashoffs last game in a Habs uniform. Fucale looked a bit shaky, to be expected I guess.

My 3 stars for the rookies:

1 - Michael Bournival: He had two goals, made smart plays in his own end and was relentless on the forecheck. Along with his two goals, his hits created one goal and created a solid chance in the third period. I can see him getting 25G-30A this year with the Bulldogs. Just a smart player.

2 - Michael McCarron - It might have been because he could go all out but he was a lot more involved tonight than yesterday. He laid the body, showed good defensive awareness and had two primary assists thanks to his forecheck.

3 - Jarred Tinordi - Was solid defensively, had a nice hit in the 1st period. Even showed some offense when being used on the PP.

Random notes:
- I wish Therrien would have used Andrighetto and Nystrom more. They're feisty and the latter one showed great hockey sense.
- Nygren had a rough first half but he picked up his game (at least offensively) in the 2nd half.
- Drewiske will have to play a lot better because right now he's probably 9th in the depth chart, behind Bouillon, Murray, Pateryn and Tinordi.
- St-Pierre will help Hamilton a lot, they didn't have anybody with his offensive skills last year. Better than Tenute.
- Gotta love how Gallagher plays the same even if its just a pre-season game.

Collberg needs to shoot more often. He was always looking for the perfect play

25% of our roster is crap. We should quadruple tank.

Collberg's coming off an injury, might not be 100% healthy, and not playing in a familar enviornment. While I think he's a good 2 years away, you can't condemn him for one bad game. Even at his best he's the kind of player who disappears for stretches.

On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised to see Nystrom adapt as the game went on. Smart player that one, he just may continue to surprise us.

So glad that hit on Reway didn't connect. They'd still be scraping bits and pieces off the ice as we speak.

If Tinordi doesn't make this team, we got serious evaluation problems. And Pateryn would make for a decent 6-7th before the end of the year.

And Caleta. Needs a whoopin with a machete.

Well Bournival showed his Dominic Moore potential tonight !

I'm getting really excited with McCarron potential, I mean impressive vision on the ice and good skills too, while being a very effective checker.

It goes without saying, but the St. Pierre-Bournival-McCarron line was the best tonight. All 3 worked very well tonight. Impressed by St. Pierre's offensive skills, should be a very good pick up for Hamilton. McCarron's vision with those two helpers was pleasantly surprising, wasn't expecting that out of him. He has good hockey sense, another thing he has that can't be taught.

I was expecting a little more from Reway given the rave reviews from camp, he's definitely got some adjustments to make. But he carries the puck well and can move. Same for Andrighetto and Collberg, found them to be invisible for most of the night. Holland as well, for someone who's already played pro, didn't show a whole lot. Nystrom had ups and downs, nice goal though.

On D, Tinordi looked great. Arguably the best player out there. Nygren had some good flashes, mostly on the PP. Pateryn, I still don't know. He looks like he has a head for the game but I don't know if there's any tools there to make him an NHLer. He wasn't shy about hammering the puck on, which was good.

Fucale did well after that first goal. Settled in and looked good battling for pucks. That Grigorenko goal would've beaten most NHL goalies, I think.

Overall, fun game and a good showing by a lot of guys.
