That's kinda weird. Is this season the first time the league has done that? (split-games)

EDIT: Come to think of it, it's kinda stupid. The coach can't even evaluate everyone who plays unless he watches video of the other game later on.

Well this squad has a lot more "starters" than the other. Will be interesting to see how well Morin, Raffl, and Straka do with guys like Vinny and Timonen.

I think split squads is a good way to get everyone playing time and have them seen by some coach - otherwise camp would have to go on forever.

Baseball has been doing this during spring training for decades, but the NHL only recently started doing this more a few years ago. I think this is the first year the Flyers have gotten onboard. I have to admit I don't really understand it.

In baseball it makes sense because if you have guys you're evaluating for starting positions or bench positions you get them both ABs by having them in split-squad games.

When it comes to hockey I don't see how you effectively evaluate a player's performance when you have half of the team they're playing with be guys who won't be part of an NHL roster next year. Especially when it comes to evaluating how a dman/goalie performs.

There are a good 20-25 in camp that know they aren't making the Flyers, its more of a learning experience in my estimation. The guys that are on the bubble will stay the entire time when the roster gets trimmed and trimmed and Holmgren/Laviolette will be right there evaluating. I don't think much evaluation is happening on the 5th day of camp when the season is still 16 days away.

Danis & Chubak are the two goalies for tonight. I guess they're saving Rayzor for the New York game on Tuesday.

EDIT: Come to think of it, it's kinda stupid. The coach can't even evaluate everyone who plays unless he watches video of the other game later on.
It has been done on rare occasions by other teams. I am not sure if the Flyers have done it.

This game is a job for two computers and two sets of headphones; and how sick would simultaneous goals be

I don't think the Toronto game is being webcasted. Maybe the Leafs are doing it but I don't think the Flyers are since their doing the Caps game.

If I understand Anthony SanFilippo's Twitter comment correctly, he and the Flyers' PR man are doing the call for the home game tonight which will be shown on the Flyers' site. It won't be a video only feed.

The Toronto game has a TV feed but the web views will be limited to the usual links (no team sites).

Really wish Stolarz stayed around a bit longer to see more of him. Hope Emery kicks some serious ass. Hope our defense doesn't **** the bed.

Looking forward to seeing Straka, Leier, Morin and Raffl play. Oh and Vinny. According to Anthony San, good chance Raffl gets a look next to Vinny
