So how will the roster be build after Traverse City?

Jurco --- Sheahan --- Pulkkinen (works pretty well, let's build for that chemistry)
XXX --- Järnkrok --- Frk (Tvrdon to LW or send him back to WHL Vancouver ?)
Tvrdon --- XXX --- XXX (Hoggan? - Glendening? - Ferraro?)
XXX --- XXX --- XXX (Grant? - Aubry? - Callahan?)

Depth/Toledo:
C Kevin Lynch
C/LW David McIntyre
W Andrej Nestrasil
W Willie Coetzee
W Trevor Parkes

Ouellet - Sproul (dominant together, so far)
XXX --- Nicastro (Paetsch?)
XXX --- Marchenko (Evans?)

(Almquist, injured?)
(Jensen, injured?)
(Nedomlel, still that Toledo-plan?)
(Fournier, ECHL)

Mrazek
Coreau

I am happy for him to get a second shot. I think is a good player and could surprise with right coaching over next couple of years.

I know we had a debate I like the kid and think he can work out for lower lines in future and will hit and play d and maybe turns it all around and hits his draft status as a late bloomer Always a fan of U of M players Good luck Kevin work hard!!

I really see glendening and ferraro on first line. Think Lynch will battle callahan for fourth line. Also see jensen and almquist as our top line d if not injured. I still believe Trvdon stays in GR. Lot can change do we put nyquist down and bury him still some time to see how this all mixes up?

What is this Glendening love of his offensive abilities? He has never been a 1st liner, but a great defensive line player.

Abby is first line for last couple years too on detroit for that style of play He brings more offense to me not as good d wise as abby yet but who knows.

Playoffs and watching at michigan. He plays detroit style and does have good offense for being a defensive type. Think he is upgrade to andersson right now.

Just my opinion. Same defense more scoring etc.. He came through in last years playoffs to me for sure 16 points in 24 games. I like those guys. Timely guys a lot plus he is U of M guy so I am biased lol. Is mature plays smart etc..

I wouldn't be so sure he's upgrade to Andersson offensively. But I could see Glendening instead of Emmerton at Red Wings 4th line, if Helm is unavailable to bottom6.

I know babs and Hollands said that Glendening will be a NHL player but I dont think it'll be with Detroit. He's 24 for this season and probably wont see time with the wings this year and next year we have I would think Ferraro and Sheahan ahead of him making the team

Should probably start pencilling Nyquist into these line ups. Potentially Tootoo as well.

He's a notch below Andersson offensively imo, at least in potential. Skating being his biggest advantage. Andersson has some pretty good playmaking ability and was no slouch offensively with the griffins.

For sure. Not sure how the whole year will play out for gus but he only needs 2 more games with the wings and then would be out of waiver options

That's the thing. People think Nyquist is going to get buried for a good portion of the season, but that's not a smart plan and I think the Wings know it; one guy goes down, they have to call up Nyquist, and bam... they're facing trading somebody else anyway (because he played 2 games and can't go down again). They might as well take the steps right now to keep Nyquist up, because it's going to happen no matter what.

So, Jarnkrok is sent down to the Griffins. Having a look at Hockeys Future rankings of the red wings center prospects, Jarnkrok is ranked no.1. That ranking may be a year old or so, but guys like Sheahan, Ferraro, Aubry were ranked after Jarnkrok. How should this early assignment be interpreted?

That he needs to adjust NA game.

That Ferraro, Aubry and Sheahan have been in AHL longer, paid their dues.

Järnkrok is best suited for top 6 role, no spots open for that, Ferraro, Aubry and Sheahan battle for grinder roles and they may get ones, though likely with callups due to injuries.

etc.

Some stuff from Babcock that affects Griffins players:

Quote:
(Adam) Almquist has made a real impression, so has (Ryan) Sproul and (Xavier) Ouellet. Those three guys for me are my biggest ... if I look at the kids, that's where my excitement lies with this group.''
Quote:
Rookie center Riley Sheahan is among 15 young players still vying for jobs in Detroit that, by all probability, don’t exist, coach Mike Babcock said.nAt the start of training camp, Babcock called Sheahan the team’s sixth center, behind Pavel Datsyuk, Stephen Weiss, Darren Helm, Joakim Andersson and Cory Emmerton. While Helm (lower back, groin) won’t be ready at the start of the season, Sheahan hasn’t done enough to sneak into the group of top four centermen.

“No one of that (rookie) crew distinguished themselves that you’re saying, ‘Oh, we have to get rid of a veteran’ so they can play. Does that make any sense?” Babcock said. “That’s what has to happen. In the end we can talk about it all you want. You come in here and take someone’s job. That’s the NHL, you have to come in here and take someone’s job. We’re not giving them away. That hasn’t happened.”
Pretty sure he's talking about Sheahan, Jurco, Jarnkrok, etc.

Yeah, I get the impression he expected a lot of Sheahan at this camp and this was one of his motherly "I'm disappointed" chats to the media.

The three guys you just mentioned two run out of waiver eligibility and are pretty close and one is something size queen Babcock was sure to want a look at. Aubry hadn't played a single game so I am sure they wanted a look, Jarnkrok already got some games in.

I'm not the biggest Pulkkinen fan but it was nice to see that line with Jarnkrok and Jurco looked good. Since Jurco's a lefty and Frk's a righty a line like this would be pretty awesome:

Jurco-Jarnkrok-Frk

Jarnkrok - playmaker
Jurco - shooter
Frk - screener/garbage man

If anyone's the shooter on that line its Frk, but there aren't really set roles on a line like that.

Looks like the Griffins start their preseason this weekend with a back to back against Lake Erie. First game (Saturday 7:05 ET) in Plymouth, MI and the 2nd game (Sunday 7:05ET) in Windsor, ON.

http://theahl.com/-b-2013-preseason-results-b--p187293

Anyone know if these games will be on AHL live or RWL?

The 1st line will be even better with Sheahan:

Pulkkinen - shooter/playmaker
Sheahan - screener/garbage man
Jurco - shooter/playmaker

2nd line could have:

Frk - shooter
Järnkrok - playmaker
Tvrdon - screener/garbage man
