Apparently Zharkov got leveled in his last game, hope he's not hurt.

Curtis Hamilton, Tyler Pitlick, Ryan Martindale and Brandon Davidson all appear to have put on muscle during the summer.

Davidson confessed to being roughly 10 pounds heavier during the Young Stars Classic in Penticton, B.C. last week.

OKC’s General Manager, Bill Scott, said after the 2012-13 season that Martindale became a ‘Gym Rat’ and that looks to have continued this offseason.

Hovinen 2-1 1.62gaa and 95.7sv%
Hartikainen 1g 1a

Hartikainen's goal at 9:10 mark. Hard work goal in front of the net.

Slepyshev and Yakimov are getting about 10 minutes per game. Zharkov is around 8.

Here's the hit:

Platonov banned for one game 11.09.2013

In the 52nd minue of Tuesday’s game in Nizhny Novgorod between Torpedo and Metallurg Magnitogorsk, visiting forward Denis Platonov was sent to the locker room for using his elbow to strike the face of home forward Daniil Zharkov. Having studied the incident and the resultant injury sustained by Zharkov, the KHL Disciplinary Committee has upheld the referee’s decision to punish Platonov with a major plus game misconduct penalty (5+20 minutes) for injuring an opponent by checking to the head and neck area, and has suspended the Metallurg man for one game.

Hopefully he doesn't have any major injuries as a result of that headshot.

What a ridiculous hit...

Zharkov really put himself in a position to get levelled, but this Platonov guy throwing that hit to the head was a disgusting move.

Hartikainen another assist today. Now has 3 pts in 4 games.
Both Slepyshev and Yakimov didn't play today for their teams.

SM-Liiga and SEL have started.

Tyrvainen with a goal in his first game.

Tuohimaa has been the back-up for his first 2 games.

Gustaffson has played 1 game.

Bogdan Yakimov just scored his first career KHL goal and several minutes later recorded his first assist.

the kid is strong like a bull.

started the game as a 13th F, played only just above 7 mins including OT, had 4 shots and won his single draw.

Thanks for this update. Great to hear! Was he a healthy scratch last game? If so, hopefully today solidifies him on the roster.

Thank you Comrade! He sure does look like a really strong kid! Hopefully this is just the start for him and he forces his coach to give him more icetime.

Vladimir Krikunov who is the Neftekhimik head coach is known for liking his tough players, and he also trusts young players who show good work ethic (Datsyuk credits him as main reason he made it through his early struggles). Yakimov is in good hands, if he is ready to work hard for development purposes, he will get his time.

Would be nice to see Yakimov develop into a good centreman that this team needs. I hear it is his skating that he needs to work on is that true…

last couple games he played Yakimov was used mostly as a winger. talking about his skating, you can watch the videos and make your judgement. i personally haven't seen any Neftekhimik full games so far this year to make more informed comments on this matter.

Sounds like Yakimov has 2 more A's through 2 in tonights game, playing a regular shift.

As per @chunkletshockey

I'm watching the game and the kid looks good. Smart player. He's quite sluggish for the first couple of steps but once he gets going he's not a horrible skater, his skating might ofc look worse on the smaller NA ice but I think a lot of it has to do with explosiveness. To get that massive body going you need some serious legpower. If he can work on that I think his skating will look much better. He's actually pretty good at changing direction, especially considering his size.

But the most impressive thing with him is his puck distribution, it's amazing, he's got soft hands and uses them to quickly find a teammate in a better position. He does it so well and so consistently. And when needed he has the ability to hold on to the puck, though at times he should use his body to cover the puck better.
His shot doesn't look like a strength from what I've seen so far but tbh it hasn't really been on display.

He still has that teenager clumsiness to him but once he grows into his body watch out, he'll be an ox. Defensively he throws his body at times, backchecks well, he plays LW and usually seems to be in position, his line has been pretty good at staying in the o-zone.

He seems to have that Yakupov joy when playing as well.

I liked the pick at the draft. This showing has turned me into a true believer. Small sample size but he has some incredible tools. If he gets stronger and more explosive this could turn out one hell of a third round pick.

That's great to hear, thanks for that insight.

Thanks for the run down! Hopefully he has Sardachny on speed dial!
