Klesla has a history of putting himself into voulnerable positions to get hit hard...
I am going to go out of the limb and say, that he probably AGAIN skated with his head down on open ice...
That said, here's to a speedy recovery for Klesla...

Pretty much. It's amazing how often Klesla will leave himself vulnerable for the big open ice hit. He's a big dude and he gets flattened all the time because of it. Nobody has video so it's anybodys guess wether it was illegal at the time. All the Cryotes comments could be toned down because that's really not even going down but people like to make their own conclusions as to whats really going on around them. Delusional world some people live in and rose colored glasses certainly don't help at all.

and this at the end

So unless Klesla completely put himself in harm’s way, it sounds like Nolan launched into the hit and made contact with the head. Nolan was fined last year for a cross-check on Henrik Sedin, but was never suspended.

The Coyotes told Fox Sports that the NHL has access to the video from the game, even though it wasn’t shown on television.
The reporters all said he left his feet after the hit...that happens roughly 100% of the time on clean hits. Also, how would you target the head below the chin?

I also don't think Sutter would have chimed in if he thought it was dirty. No whining from Tippett either? I hope this isn't a "let's send a message" type deals with the league...if the hit was clean let it go.

Sigh. Expected but still dissapointing. Good news is that when I am watching Jets prospect Lukas Sutter dissapoint I can watch Kings Bartosak dominate in a league he is clearly above

Zykov not among the 8 players sent back to Juniors. I guess the next big cut is by the weekend, since the Monarchs camp starts on the 24th.

Dave Tippett starting with the post game quote:
Quote:
It seemed to me like a guy got hit in the head and a player left his feet. That’s not for me to diagnose, the league does a good job of those and when they feel like there is a violation they take action. So, the league will look at it and we will go from there.
well...

According to Rosen, these are the players who were cut:

The players reassigned were Justin Auger (Guelph / OHL), Matthew Campagna (Sudbury / OHL), Patrik Bartosak (Red Deer / WHL), Nick Ebert (Windsor / OHL), Dominik Kubalik (Sudbury / OHL), Zachary Leslie (Guelph / OHL), Kurtis MacDermid (Owen Sound / OHL) and Marcus McIvor (North Bay / OHL).

McIvor and Campagna were in camp on tryouts.

Most notable of the cuts is that Valentin Zykov was left off the list. Though I wasn’t at the home preseason game against Phoenix, there were many indications that the Zykov-Shore-Sabourin was the team’s best in the 5-1 loss. Zykov, 18, is expected to return to a strong Baie-Comeau squad in the QMJHL but will draw a longer look in camp. This is a positive sign for Los Angeles’ top pick in the 2013 draft.

Defenseman Alex Roach remains in camp. The 20-year-old is eligible to play with both AHL-Manchester and WHL-Calgary.

Tonight's roster? I'm guessing since the AHL is calling, DL and DS will want to get a look at as many of the kids as they can this week. So I wonder if some of the vets sit out tonight.

Leslie was pretty damn surprising for a 6th rounder. Plays physical and can move the puck. Sorta similar maybe a bit to Nic Des. Auger I haven't really heard much about and in the scrimmage, he wasn't noticeable. I maintain he was a mistake to take in the 4th.

I was reading Elliotte Friedman's 30 thoughts column and this was listed. REmember that new rule that the goalie's leg pads will be smaller?

Well here's what happens if a goalie gets caught using illegal pads

10. The penalty if caught using illegal equipment? A two-game suspension for any offending netminder, a $25,000 fine to the team and a $1,000 fine to the equipment manager. That last one is tough as a lot of them are underpaid for the hard work they do. But I see what the league is trying accomplish with that.

Jon Rosen ‏@lakingsinsider 1h Kopitar centering Pearson and Toffoli this
n Rosen ‏@lakingsinsider 1h Tonight's game group is on the ice for the morning skate at TSC. Lots of regulars.

Good for Pearson and TT to play on the top line...I think down the road that is where TT will be anyway.

Agreed.

I wouldn't be surprised even if TT got some time on the 1st line during regular season this year, with Williams on the 3RW.

Having both Frattin and TT on our roster SHOULD improve our overall scoring.

So a project still looks like a project three months after he was selected? Shocking.

FWIW I think he looks a lot better than Boyle at the same age.

I sure hope Lombardi doesn't try to move Auger to Defense when the kid turns pro.

That truly was one of the dumbest moves of Lombardi's tenure. Right up there with signing John Zeiler to a one-way 4 year contract after 23 games at the NHL level.

I believe the intrigue with Boyle on defense can be attributed to how Boyle was used at BC by Jerry York. He had him play defense at times. Given his size, the Kings probably thought they could paint stripes on a ***** cat (hence the phrase Lombardi has thrown out there about that). But yes, that was ultimately was a failed experiment.

I saw the hit. I don't think Nolan was trying to injure klesla at all. I think nolan saw an opportunity to knock the ***** out of somebody. But here is the problem: when a player's shoulders make heavy contact with another player's head (be it his chin or whatever it may be), this contact could seriously injure the player being hit.

I think that something needs to be done about player's hitting other players' heads with their shoulders, even though there was no charging involved. The day that the league makes changes what a legal check is defined as, is the day we will have a safer league.

With that being said, I believe that Nolan's hit was illegal in a vacuum, but not in the NHL.

The boards in NHL arenas are still traumatized by Zeiler's impact against them.

I'm glad you have a deep understanding of the game. He could have been had later on. There were better prospects there and outside of size, I don't see really great upside there at all. 6th or 7th rounder for sure but I'd have rather seen us get the guy who went next overall, Andrew Copp.
