Yep, I'll be surprised if McIlrath isn't at least a mediocre bottom pairing D-man, Hugh Jessiman is nobody taken high in the best draft ever (or one of).

is it just me, or does mathers look an awful lot like a bigger version of zac rinaldo? not playing style, I mean he literally looks just like him...

It seemed to me that Florida played Jessiman in the NHL out of sympathy... so he would not be one of the most unfortunate hockey trivia answers! He was the only guy from that first round not to play in the NHL until they gave him those 2 games. As it is he is the only 1st rounder in 2003 without an NHL point.

Speaking of Jessiman, I've watched him a few days ago because he plays in the KHL now - for the only Croatian team in the league. One of his teammates is J. Cheechoo... Looks like they collect all kinds of weird hockey stories in Zagreb

Edit: Just found out Kurtis Pylon Foster is there as well

I agree. I really really like Akeson but he made way too many mistakes tonight. He turned off the puck a couple of times near the blue line and took a penalty to boot. He did nearly set up at least 2 goals and did contribute to Couturier scoring a goal (though he did not get an assist).

1-2-1 to start the preseason. Didn't the Flyers start 1-3 last season? Sign of things to come?

Ya i read earlier today about Akeson improved def game, not impressed at all tonight.

Vinnys made some sick passes tonight, Couts was impressive, and Simmer looked to be dogging it.

Im thinking maybe Brayden with Vinny might be better. Another guy that can carry puck.

Morin and Streit led the team in TOI. How did they look?

Both good, better then expected. Morin in the offensive zone, Streit in the defensive zone.

He did have an awesome freshman season at Dartmouth. And then it was all downhill from there.

Thanks Fred. Glad to see Couturier bodying his way in there to bury that. Who was the best player tonight?

I liked Couts , Vinny and Jake. Vandevelde or whtever his name is was sure noticeable with his skating.

Streit and Coburn and Morin and Alt on D.

Couts I would say. Hartnell also played very well.

Couturier looks like a totally different player. Coburn looks better and more involved, Morin is turning heads. Even strength play looks pretty ****** still, but I wont be worried until the regular season.
