I'd take Larsen over Grebs right now, we'll see what happens, but after today it looks like he's pulling ahead.

it is needed to be said that i'm impressed with how Bachman played. he's a no-nonsense goaltender, pretty much the opposite of Dub.

Lowetide has already gone on record saying he'll be on the team.

The guy can't skate and has granite hands. Missed the best scoring chance of the game because he can't control a hockey puck.

He's basically a slow version of Ryan Jones.

Oilers (and their prospects) outshot in 6 of the 7 games so far and 222-173 overall... sure it's just the preseason with a bunch of non-NHL players but would be nice if that stat wasn't always so one-sided.

Larsen's assist was a great heads up play. I also liked some of the plays gags was making (behind the back pass comes t mind). Yak was decent, but is most definitely a defensive liability at this point in his career. Omark just does not have the size he needs to play the type of game he is trying to play. And last but not lest, I loved Jone's work ethic.

We should also remember that the big decisions on who makes the team are usually made in the last two games. At this point everyone's just kind of shaking off the rust. I don't think Larsen or Omark are going anywhere for a while.

Davidson was junk... Probably not a coincidence Larsen turned it around when they were split up there.

Probably can cut:

Davidson
Hunt
Moroz
Martindale
Abney
Kessy

At least those 6. Maybe Curtis Hamilton or Khaira see the chopping block soon.

Larsen may make this team as a #7D just due to offensive ability, IMO.

He's more likely to be claimed than Grebeshkov and he's a RHD that would be able to run the 2nd PP unit, thus allowing Petry to focus on a shutdown role and keep his ice-time manageable.

Either Potter or Larsen are waiver-bound and IMO, Detroit's claiming either one.

630 ched guys are praising Larsen. I thought he picked it up in the 3rd but was bad in the first 2.

Well, he did outscore Grebeshkov, so...
He moves the puck well and played a crucial role in our only 2 goals of the night. He's what Grebs should be right now. If we paired him with N. Schultz IMO that'd be a solid 3rd pairing.

Really? He had three good shifts there in the third, but the rest of what I've seen has been pretty meh. I guess at least he hasn't been getting schooled like Grebs. I don't see how Grebs makes the team. He skates real good, but his anticipation of what might happen in the d-zone is not nearly at the NHL level. Is he really an upgrade over Foster or Barker or Whitney?
I did watch the game, Grebs reminds me of Barker right now, unless he really picks up his game he is playing like garbage.

In the preseason, I'd like to see Larsen and Grebeshkov partnered with someone steady - to see them at their best. Preferably, right next to N. Schultz (their most likely partner).

EDIT: Ninja'd by Bryanbryoil. I want to see me some Belov.

Martindale and Moroz deserve to see a few more games and I'd hope Khaira would get to play before he was snipped.

Due to running around and doing errands tonight I watched 5 minutes of the game. The only thing I saw of note was the Omark dive.

And it was a complete, cheap, dive.

Larsen fits the "PMD whos bad at D" better than Grebs

Omark didnt have a good game. But his compete level is always there, and on the boards he is still good. I want to see him play 2 more preseason games and 1 or 2 regular season games before writing him off and sending him off in a boat to siberia.

I also think Joensuu is pretty close to passing Jones on the depth chart.

Klefbom looked solid out there. Nothing outstanding, but he still may have rust. I think its a given hes AHL bound for a bit

Heres to hoping Belov is a adequate bottom pairing guy

D Depth:

Ference, Smid, Petry, Schultz x2 - These guys are all assured spots.
Belov
Potter
Larsen
Grebs
Klefbom

I think Grebs will be the odd man out.

I didnt see Omark coast one time today. He was lost defensivly more than once. And quite frankly there is no excusses for that.

Both the penelties he got was kinda close calls. Personally i think the first one was really a ******** call while the second one if it was a dive was just dumb as **** by him. I missed the replay...

He needs to show a ton more or he is going to the ahl. But am sure he will get a few more chances this preseason.
The diving call he got was close? The Neutral zone hookinh penalty he took with his feet staying still were close penalties?

Look, I dont like omark. Fair enough.

BVut I'd love nothing more than for him to shove it in my face and show that he is worth more than a Youtube view.

Moroz maybe earned another game tonight, Khaira yes I do want to see him in a game.

Martindale was a guy I had cut in the last round of them, I don't mind if he goes at all.

Also don't mind if Andrew Miller goes, based on how bad he was at rookie camp, but he will stick around for a bit longer.
