If Hal Gill doesn't happen to pan out (and I know we're kind of plugged up on the D) one guy I'd hope the Flyers would ake a look at would be Ian White. IMO I thought he played well when he was in Toronto, and played well in Calgary.

He's not someone who'd crack our top four of Kimmo, Schenn, Coburn or Streit. But he'd be a more than serviceable 5-7 D-man, plays physically and has a decent Right Handed shot. He's a solid vet that could hold down the fort in the playoffs while remaining healthy, especially with injuries plaguing every team we've had make a run for the cup (Kerr, Poulin, Sutter and Sinisalo) in 87, not sure about 97, but lots of injuries in the 2010 run, and Kimmo is having to rough it like the warrior he is near the end of every season.

I believe he's also on a PTO with Minny too. Just wondering what you guys thought

Tim P. said that Gill survived this round of cuts, is part of the group headed to Lake Placid.

Gill loves to take out anything near the net. He's still mobile for his age... I'm pissed the Penguins havn't tried to get him back

I'd say Gil has been "meh" thus far. But I think that is what we all expected, no? If at the end of camp there is a need for a 7th D-man or emergency call up, I'd sign him.

He does his job and keeps it simple. Not much more you can expect and ask for.

I think he's been worse than that. I would much rather have Lauridsen as the 7th defensemen, and for that to happen Meszaros would have to be traded first.

Huh. Complete opposite of mobile. The guy is maybe a 7th on a good night.

Summarizing Tim P. from earlier today (Sat., Sept. 28): Hal Gill's meeting with Holmgren has been postponed until Sunday because, according to Tim, "Flyers r trying to move a d-man and perhaps sign Gill as 7th man."

What a joke... They invite this guy in and try to move money for him instead of signing a guy like Hainsey.

1. Kimmo
2. Schenn
3. Streit
4. Coburn
5. Grossmann
6. Gus
7. Mez
8. Bruno
9. Gill

More then one would need to be moved for Gill to be the 7th d-man.

Mez trade and Bruno waived maybe? Can't really see what Gill does for the team but ok I guess.

Cody Goloubef was waived by CLB. Now thats a player I'd take a flyer on. In a pretty deep CLB defensive group never had a long chance to make it.

Instead we are going for "locker room presence" Gill

Exactly what I just thought.
There were so many decent defenders out there and could have been had for cheap, and we end up with Hall Gill.

So why is Gill still not gone yet? I get that he is a veteran presence, but really he has looked terrible out there.

Maybe they just want him as the guy who practices with the team but doesn't play.
