What do the Jets really need?

I am slightly confused what does Jets really need. Other then EVERYTHING, I am just wondering what do the Jets really really need. Last season did impress (mostly because of Andrew Ladd) me a lot I might follow them a lot closer. You guys play with a lot heart.

Not really seeing a point to this thread?? We will see what we need later on. At this point all I would like to have thats realistic that we don't already have is a legit #2 play making centre, and have Scheif on the 3rd line, and no Jokinen. Either that or a good 3C that is good defensively and can still put up points with Frolik.

Sorry, for the confusion. I am just getting more and more interested in the Jets as a fan. Lack of center depth down the middle. The defensive core at the blue line looks rather shaky at times.

Shutdown LHD to play with Bogo
Scheif to be a legit 2C
Buff to play beast mode every night
Top 15 starting goalie (could be Pavs, not yet though)

...

Stanley Cup

If I could pick only one thing it would be: better goaltending.

Jets were 16th in goals-for last season, 16th in shots-for, 18th in shots-against but 25th in goals-against.

So middle-of-the-pack in GF, SF, SA and then near the bottom for GA...a lot of that is because of below-average goaltending.

Better special teams. Finishing at or near the bottom for the pp and pk again will not get us very far.

A star player. We have no one that scares the opposition.

That's not really a need, is it?
I'd rather improve all our depth then get one star.

I've got maybe 20 years left if I'm really lucky. I'm slightly more patient than Ed Snider. Though Snider will probably outlive me with all those Chinese organ transplants and infants' blood cocktails he drinks.

I think an Evander Kane with real line mates totally does.

Also, Byfuglien.

Legit 2C... maybe that'll be Scheifele? maybe not?
Legit 3C... maybe that'll be Jokinen? maybe not?
Legit 2LD... maybe that'll be Clitsome? maybe not?
Legit 1G... maybe that'l.................. ya...

With those pieces, plus LLW, Kane, Bogo, Buff, Tobi, Frolik, Seto you have a decent enough team. Rest of the parts can pretty much rotate even with replacement level players and still make some noise.

He's also up there with Radulov and ahead of names like Kovalchuk, both Koystisn, Afinogenov and Morozov in scoring just to name a few

Agree, garret. Though patience may be the best answer.

Give Scheifele time to see if he can be that legit #2 C. Give Lowry time to develop into that legit #3 C. Give Trouba time to develop into that legit #2 LD (or pair with Bogo and Bogo plays left side).

The pieces could be in the organization, they're just not ready yet. But if you go out to get those pieces, you hurt their growth. Even Chicago had to let Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Keith, et all cut their teeth a little, before they were true playoff contenders.

Without going further this pretty much covers it. Except I will add the obvious needs, for our defense to stay healthy and long term for our prospects to develop to their potential. If stars don't develop from within they are not coming.

My thoughts exactly. We don't have a real play making center, maybe Scheif will be it who knows. As well I have never been completely sold on Noel as a HC so that's another area I think that we could approve on.

I dunno. We're ok in all the aspects I think, just don't particularily excel at anything. Depth would be a good start.
